Article 3.8 of the Technical Regulations requires all components influencing the carâs aerodynamic performance to be ârigidly secured to the entirely sprung part of the carâ, and to âremain immobile in relation to the sprung part of the carâ.
Elsewhere in the rules, the FIA adds it âreserves the right to introduce further load/deflection tests on any part of the bodywork which appears to be (or is suspected of) moving whilst the car is in motion.â
The FIA did not suggest any particular team was breaking the rules when informing the 10 squads of the new tests, which come into force on June 15.
To allow for a transition to these new load/deflection requirements, the FIA will allow for a 20% tolerance for the first month of these new tests.
Gevonden in de regels van 5 maart 2021:
3.9.3
Bodywork may deflect by no more than one degree horizontally when a load of 1000N is applied simultaneously to its extremities in a rearward direction 825mm above the reference plane and 20mm forward of the forward edge of the rear wing endplate at 825mm above the reference plane.
3.9.4
Bodywork may deflect no more than 3mm vertically when a 500N load is applied simultaneously to each side of it 250mm behind the rear wheel centre line, 375mm from the car centre plane and 890mm above the reference plane. The deflection will be measured at the outer extremities of the bodywork at a point 395mm behind the rear wheel centre line. The load will be applied in a downward direction through pads measuring 200mm x 100mm which conform to the shape of the bodywork beneath them, and with their uppermost horizontal surface 890mm above the reference plane. The load will be applied to the centre of area of the pads. Teams must supply the latter when such a test is deemed necessary.
Voor 2022 (van 30 april 2021) is het trouwens nog weer anders:
3.15.7 Rear Wing Flexibility
Bodywork may deflect no more than 3mm or rotate more than 1° when a load of [135, 0, -480]N is applied symmetrically to the âRear Wing Profilesâ with the loads acting through points [XR=405, Âą300, 870].The loads should be applied through adaptors that enclose both sections, have a width of 100mm and are positioned with their inboard faces at Y=Âą250. Each adaptor should have a counterbore of dia. 50mm concentric with the load axis and with its bottom face normal to the load vector at [XR=405, Âą300, 870]. The adaptor may be no more than 50mm from RV-RW-PROFILES. The deflection will be measured at the points of application.
