Chris starts off by thanking the subscribers for making 10 for the Chairman and JumpPoint possible, he then talks about Spacewreck, a book by David Hobbins (the guy who designed the Mustang.)
Afterwards he moves onto the questions.
1: The Drake Herald's position as an information and data encryption ship makes it very interesting. However is this a niche PvE mission ship, or is it something more? How will the information and data aspects affect PvP in the persistent universe?
Answer: Encrypted information will be a valuable cargo item available to information runners. It's value is increased by the fact there is no FTL communication in Star Citizen, thus information propagates at the speed of a ship, or radio transmission. As such you are limited by the speed of light when in system, and by distance you can jump via Jump points.
Normally when transmitting information, an example provided was Earth to Terra. On Earth you would transmit the information to the closest relay station at the speed of light, that relay station would then place the information on a drone and send the drone through the Jump point, a relay station on the other side would then pick up the information from the drone, transmit it to the next relay station and so on. However even if your information is encrypted there is still a chance it will be intercepted and the encryption cracked. Which is where the Drake Herald comes in, for delivering very sensitive information, an example given was deeds to land.
2: In the fourth 10 for the Chairman, you talked about some matchmaking criteria and I was wondering what skill level is, since we won't be leveling-up. Will it be based on your kill count, or perhaps if you are a trader, based on the proft you have made.
Answer: Matchmaking will have a lot of criteria, including ping, player preferences (pvp, pve) skill level at dogfighting, organizations, and how good your ship is. DFM will be a test for this.
3: Can you elaborate on top speed mechanics and how they interact with combat instances?
Answer: Top speed mechanics are still being worked out. Speed will be limited while dogfighting for fun aspect and psuedo science relating to rapid directional changes. .2c is being referred to as "warp speed" and during warp speed your ship speed will not be limited. In fiction explanation is that IFS is limiting ship speed around celestial bodies and such. The idea of running away is also being toyed with, if you accelerate in a straight line you may be able to leave the instance.
4: Tractor beams suggest that ships are able to 'scoop' cargo from space into their cargo bays. I assume the reverse would also be possible, to jettison cargo into space. How does this work on ships where there are no bulkheads between the crew compartments and cargo holds?
Answer: This is still being worked out, but most ships should have a bulkhead between cargo and living quarters.
5: You mentioned in the last 10FTCM that the Idris was undergoing some interior changes in order to fit the amount of ships that you wanted inside the hanger. How many ships do you plan on allowing inside an Idris, and which ones?
Answer: Idris is being reworked for use in Squadron 42 as a military corvette. As such it has an armory, and a medbay, and a briefing room. Corvette owners will be very happy when they get to look at their Idris as it will have a fully modelled interior.
The military will have two active Hornets escorting an Idris and a spare one in case a Hornet gets damaged. Therefor it can be assumed that the Idris will be able to fit three Hornet sized ships or smaller, or fly two off, with the third one fitting into a storage area (although you could launch it too if you wanted to be pushy.)
6: Is it possible to do PVP with my friends for fun, without losing my ship and equipment all the time?
Answer: That is the intent of the simulator which will sprout from the DFM.
7: Will we be seeing an integrated bug report/feedback system as we get into more and bigger testing?
Answer: Answer is yes, may be using Jira, although that not decided yet. May be integrated later on.
8: How will Star Citizen address such a situation where you have but a stick of bubblegum and a prayer holding your ship together and communications have been shot to pieces. Will be be able to attempt a manual landing? Or will we have to put our faith in our escape pods?
Answer: This hasn't been considered yet. Chris thinks that likely if it is recognized that you are too shot up to communicate, you will be cleared to land. As for landing on other ships it would likely have to be manual. If this doesn't apply you could use your escape pods.
9: Will the Death of a Spaceman always be the Final Destination for our pilots, or will we able to say, 'retire' them, and perhaps have them populate the universe?
Answer: Hasn't been decided yet, Chris thinks it sounds cool.
10: Several months ago Chris Roberts made a comment about looking into the possibility of making an official SC gamepad or HOTAS, is there any further word on if this is going to happen?
Answer: Chris says they are moving forward with long term plans for this, nothing before the DFM.
