1. Maximum AC Output with Expansion (21 kWh setup)
Yes, regardless of whether you add expansion batteries, the maximum AC output and charging power of the Solarbank Max AC remains limited to 3.5 kW.
(Note: If you have seen information suggesting that adding a BP7000 expansion battery can increase the output to 3680W, please be advised that this is incorrect. Our technical team has recently verified this across the board, and the output does not increase with expansion. Please disregard this misinformation, and we appreciate your understanding.)
2. Running Two Separate Solarbank Max AC Systems
Currently, we do not recommend running two Solarbank Max AC units simultaneously. If you were to set up two separate systems, each would require its own smart meter and be managed as completely independent systems. However, doing this will likely cause confusion and erratic behavior with the charging and discharging logic between the two units.
If you want to run two Solarbank Max AC units sharing a single smart meter, you will need to wait for the upcoming parallel function (via Power Dock) which will allow multiple units to coordinate properly. This feature is expected to be released in Q4 this year. Please look forward to it!
3 & 4. Official Support for Parallel Setups and Recommended Configurations
The Anker SOLIX Solarbank Max AC is specifically designed to complement existing rooftop PV systems. When paired with a smart meter, it works seamlessly: as soon as the smart meter detects surplus power from your existing PV system (power that would otherwise be fed into the public grid), the Solarbank Max AC uses this surplus to charge itself. Both systems operate completely independently without interfering with each other. We strongly recommend connecting the systems to separate phases if you use them alongside an existing PV setup.
However, for running multiple Solarbank Max AC units within the same household to achieve higher total output power, we currently do not recommend it. We ask for your patience as we finalize compatibility with the Power Dock, which will safely and optimally allow multiple units to run in parallel and achieve the higher kW output you are looking for.
Summary for your goals:
To meet your need for both high storage (kWh) and high output (kW) for your EV and heat pump, the best path forward is to wait for the Q4 update and the Power Dock compatibility. This will allow you to legally and safely parallel two units, effectively doubling your output to ~7 kW while sharing a single smart meter.
