P40L0 op Resetera:
Ok, after my first tinkering with Dolby Vision on Series X and LG B7 + CX @ 4K/60hz I found that:
- DV Game preset is a big upgrade over HDR Game preset for LG 2017 OLEDs: DV is just a lot brighter while staying color accurate, preserving highlights' detail and without the need to use DTM or HGIG to compensate for an otherwise dim HDR Game mode. This with all DV games tested so far;
- DV Game preset may be on par or slightly more accurate than HDR Game preset + HGIG on CX for "supported" and "auto-converted" DV games;
- For LG 2017 OLEDs only: when possible, in-game HDR Luminance value now needs to be set at 10.000 nits for the in-game logos to correctly disappear in white square patterns;
- For LG CX (and supposedly C1): when possible, in-game HDR Luminance value now needs to be set at 1.250 nits for the in-game logos to correctly disappear in white square patterns;
- Native DV games should be significantly better with DV Game preset compared to HDR Game + HGIG, and we may test this very soon with Halo Infinite Tech Preview 2 this weekend.
Also some notes:
- Suggested settings for Dolby Vision and Xbox in the OP don't need to be changed;
- 4K/120hz DV is now supported on C1;
- 4K/120hz DV on CX is not officially supported yet, but a new firmware with a fix will be released soon;
- No 4K/120hz DV support at all on C9 at the moment. So here you need to choose between 4K/60hz DV or 4K/120hz HDR;
- Currently VRR doesn't work with DV, so you need to disable it if you want DV (and this could be a fairly big loss for 4K/120hz gaming on Xbox) False alarm, it works
- Input lag seems the same as SDR/HDR Game presets.
