I will try to make this short and to the point. This is not to elicit further arguments or discussions. If you do not agree with my views, then I am very sorry. I can only hope that you read my explanation and see the logic within.
If you dig deep enough, you can find faults in every power supply. Many power supply testers only do performance testing and do not look at safety or long-term reliability issues. Things such as creepage distances and isolation layers can be far more dangerous than something such as ripple during OPP.
Our engineers take every issue seriously and make a judgment and determination whether if it requires an immediate solution or can wait for the next revision schedule. It would not make any sense, normal sense or business sense to sell products that will cause damage to the consumer and in the ultimate end, to ourselves.
The FOCUS platform is very stable and the VGA issue was because our circuit design took into consideration PSU internal component protection as a priority and at the same time still meet Intel specifications. Aris (CMaris) has clarified this point as well and the responsibility should rest with the VGA manufactures to stay within specification to ensure compatibility. Nevertheless, we have made the modifications on our side to ensure compatibility and many view this action as admission to fault. But we view this as support to our customers. 2 sides to every coin.
As for the OPP ripple, our RD found this to be a very limited and low-risk issue and only occurs during non-normal usage and operations when the power supply goes into OPP mode and even then, the ripple issues is very short period in time. If some believe this is a big problem, then I am sorry, our RD do not think so. Why would we not want to fix a problem that can be damaging to both ourselves and our customers? Where lies the logic in this? Especially when the warranty that we provide on the product is up to 10 years? Now I can imagine The_Mask says we want to lie to sell as much as possible, sure that would work great if we did not provide any warranty or very short warranty and hope for the best. But 10 years warranty? The more we sell, the more pain we will have... why would we want to do that? This would be strange logic.
So now we will introduce FOCUS v2 in August as part of our normal revamp schedule and this OPP ripple is addressed. All our products go through revisions, this is the natural lifecycle of the product.
I apologize, I am sure many of you here are very knowledgeable in power supplies design, operations and performance, but I also trust the judgment of our engineers.
-Thank you and have a nice weekend
