PlayStation 4 coming to Japan February 22nd, three months after US launch
In addition to a major PS Vita announcement, Sony's ongoing event in Japan has brought some less positive news for the home crowd. Japanese gamers have to wait until February 22nd to get hold of a PlayStation 4 -- three months later than the mid-November PS4 launch in the US. The console will be priced at 41,979 yen (the US price is $399), or 46,179 yen with the PlayStation camera, and Sony will again be offering a first limited edition pack with free games at the same price. When the launch date was announced, the live audience literally groaned with disappointment. Kawano-san, SCEJA's President, explained that the delay was because the company needed time to re-version Western titles for the Japanese audience and ensure a full array of launch titles. However, that's unlikely to allay complaints from Sony's Japanese fan base. Three months is quite a wait.
Wel pijnlijk voor de Japanners dus. Zowel X1 als PS4 niet beschikbaar

PS Vita TV connects games, services to your TV, launches 14th November for around $100 (video) HD
This tiny 60mm x 100mm wonder is the PlayStation Vita TV. Not only is it a mini console that will it play Vita games and connect to PlayStation controllers, it'll also offer access to Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited, Karaoke and plenty more online services on your TV too -- all for 9,954 yen (around $100). You will also be able to buy a set with a controller and storage card for 14,995 yen ($150) and it's set to go on sale (in Japan at least) on the 14th November. And there's another key feature: the PS Vita TV will also allow you to connect to PlayStation 4 (when it arrives) for remote play, acting as a secondary terminal for gaming when you're not in the same room as your next-gen console.

New PlayStation Vita coming October 10th: lighter, thinner, more battery life
If it's big enough for a live broadcast (with English translation), it's going to be good, right? Sony has announced a new version of its PS Vita, just weeks after announcing a price-drop across both the US and Europe. (Japan was treated to the discount back in February.) It's 15 percent lighter and 20 percent thinner than the original model and will add an additional hour of life to the battery. The new (WiFi-only) Vita will land in Japan first, on October 10th priced at 18,980 yen (about $190). Other hardware improvements (alongside pink, black, blue, grey, lime green, and yellow color options) include a micro-USB charger -- like your smartphone -- and 1GB of onboard storage. Interestingly, the screen tech has been changed to LCD from OLED, but we'll have to see it in the flesh before we jump to any conclusions on performance. Alongside those colors, Sony's already planned for three special edition models: Gundam Breaker, God Eater (camouflage!) and Otomate.
To augment that new built-in storage, Sony's cut the prices of its own memory cards too. From 4GB to 32GB, they've been reduced to between 1,554 yen (about $15) and 6,804 yen (just over $68). There's a new 64GB Vita card too, priced at 10,479 yen (roughly $105).
As for that original model PS Vita, it's getting a new 'Play!' Game Pack, which comes with pre-installed games and a memory card packed in -- as well as 90 days of PS Plus, gratis. No launch date yet, but it's priced for Japan at 24,129 yen (about $241).
En verder nog deze nieuwtjes:
(The conference being was strictly for Japanese audiences, don't expect huge news..i'm gathering relevant and interesting information)
-New PS Vita model was announced, 1GB internal storage, slightly smaller, downgraded 5" LCD screen, different colors, memory card price cuts. Seems to be a slightly cheaper model at 190 euros.
-Deep Down gameplay showed off for the first time. It's a PS4 exclusive now. Levels are randomly generated, game set in New York in 2095, Deep Down is a virtual reality simulator where you play in a medieval type world and fight various monsters. The monsters are randomly generated too with some forms having fur and others not amongst other details, online is a central focus of the game where you and friends team up to fight monsters, kinda like monster hunter.
- PS Vita TV was announced. It's essentially a tiny home console that plays PS Vita games similar to OUYA, you insert your vita games into it and sync with a PS3 controller. Plays other content like movies, music etc. Retails at around 100 euro or more. PS4 compatibility in some form apparently.
-PlayStation 4 will launch in Japan on February 22nd 2014. Very sad news for those in japan anticipating the console. Console sales aren't as big at all compared to handhelds so it's kinda understandable that Sony would rather focus on EU, ME and US first.
-A new Yakuza game was announced for PS4 set in the feudal Japan era.
With that i'll now link some videos. There was far more stuff announced, but it's very japanese centric and I don't think many of you will be interested.

At Sony's conference today Capcom's Yoshinori Ono revealed a new trailer and gameplay for its upcoming release, deep down. From the trailer video the game is set in a futuristic 2094 New York and it appears the game's story takes inspiration from the Assassin's Creed series.
The game will also be using Capcom's new Panta Rhei engine which has the ability to automatically generate creatures, items and equipment during the game, as well as change creatures appearances based on time and place. Ono-san also mentioned they tried to focus on the graphics 'liquid expression.'
deep down will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show, September 19th-22nd.

At Sony's press conference today, Sega revealed a trailer for their new title in the Yakuza series, Yakuza: Ishin. It will be set in Kyoto during Japan's Edo period. Kazuma Kiryu will be replaced with a past look-a-like named Sakamoto Ryoma. Popular characters from previous games will make their return, as well new characters.
Additionally the game has cross-play with the PS Vita.
Yakuza: Ishin will be shown at the Tokyo Game Show but it was not mentioned if it was playable.
The Japanese launch date will be February 22, 2014 for both PS3 and PS4, which coincides with the Japanese PS4 console release.
At this evening’s pre-TGS Sony press conference in Japan, a slew of new games were revealed. We already spun-out individual stories for some of these, such as
Soul Sacrifice Delta for PS Vita,
Phantasy Star Nova for PS Vita,
Yakuza Ishin for PS4.
But there’s much more to talk about.
For instance, a strategy-RPG for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita was revealed from Kadokawa Games called
Natural Doctrine. On the fighter forefront, Arc System Works'
Guilty Gear Xrd (which had already been announced but not confirmed for platforms) was shown off on PlayStation 4, looking amazing as it harnessed Unreal Engine to present graphics that bridged the gap between 2D and 3D animation.
Furthermore, GungHo and Grasshopper Manufacture have confirmed that the companies are collaborating on a mysterious “supreme/extreme action” game called
Lily Bergamo for PlayStation 4. And
Wonder Flick, a Level-5 RPG originally for iOS, will be coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.
As Playstation 4 is the hot system of the moment, companies were quick to jump on the system even if there wasn't much to talk about. Also on the list was a new Mobile Suit Gundam, an Xtreme Legends updated version of Dynasty Warriors 8 (also on PS3 and Vita,) new versions of Dream Club and Idolmaster for those who enjoy all things girly and pink, a new EDF: Earth Defense Force for those with more manly needs.
Unfortunately, these games were revealed fairly rapidly, and details are sadly scarce. More information on all of these games are expected at Tokyo Game Show. IGN will be there in only a couple of weeks, so stay tuned for more.
