3.1.1 Kanker
In 2018 is een toonaangevende publicatie van het World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) en het American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) uitgekomen over de relatie tussen alcoholgebruik en het risico op verschillende vormen van kanker. 32 Om kanker te voorkomen, luidt het advies van het WCRF en het AICR om geen alcohol te drinken. 33
Als je dan door dat rapport bladert, bekijken ze stuk of 9 soorten kanker.
Voor 7 kankersoorten heeft men geen relatie gevonden met wijn, mogelijk soms zelfs licht positief?
Separate dose–response meta-analyses were also conducted for the consumption of beer, wine and spirits and the risk of oral cavity cancer, pharyngeal cancer, laryngeal cancer, and head and neck cancer (see Table 5.6 and CUP mouth, pharynx and larynx cancer SLR 2016, Figures 29, 30 and 31). For both beer and spirits a statistically significant increased risk of head and neck cancer was observed. No significant association was observed between any of the cancers and drinking wine.
A statistically significant increased risk of stomach cancer was observed for consumption of beer (RR 1.08 [95% CI 1.01–1.16]), but not for consumption of wine or spirits (see CUP stomach cancer SLR 2015, Figures 142, 147 and 152).
Separate dose–response meta-analyses on the risk of premenopausal breast cancer, per
10 grams increase in alcohol (as ethanol) consumed per day, were also conducted for beer, wine and spirits. A significant increased risk was observed for beer (RR 1.32 [95% CI 1.06–1.64]) but not for wine or spirits (see CUP breast cancer report 2017, Table 7 and CUP breast cancer SLR 2017, Sections 5.4.1.1, 5.4.1.2 and 5.4.1.3)
Separate dose–response meta-analyses on the risk of kidney cancer, per 10 grams increase in alcohol (as ethanol) consumed per day, were also conducted for beer, wine and spirits. A significant decreased risk was observed for beer (RR 0.77 [95% CI 0.65–0.92], but not for wine or spirits (see CUP kidney SLR 2015, Figures 62, 65 and 68).
Voor 2 soorten kanker (?) heeft men een relatie gevonden met wijn, RR 1.04 voor darmkanker en post menopauze borstkanker:

Ik zie de conclusie om geen wijn te drinken ter voorkoming van kanker hier niet in terug. De gehele groep alcoholdranken, ja, maar de individuele drank wijn, nee. En als wijn (met alcohol) veilig is, is het dan wel de alcohol die de schadelijke component is, of is er een ander effect)
