Niet zo makkelijk. Containers worden door een lader op hun plek gezet. Die kijkt o.a. naar gewicht.
Dus het wordt lastig vliegen als je ergens onderop staat.

Dat overschat je waarschijnlijk nogal. Met wat duidelijke luchtfoto's kan een kenner van olie raffinaderijen je waarschijnlijk precies vertellen waar de kritische componenten zitten. Het is niet alsof ze in Rusland een hele bijzondere en geheime techniek gebruiken. Dit is een industrie die vrijwel overal ter wereld hetzelfde werkt.

In dit geval had @Tens het over de fabriek die springstof maakt. Niet over een raffinaderij. Die laatste heeft standaard componenten (door het Westen geleverd) en zo is te zien wat kritiek is en wat niet.

De fabriek staat echter op een enorm terrein met diverse gebouwen. Daar kan je luchtfoto's van hebben maar ik denk niet dat je daarmee exact kan bepalen wat waar gebeurt.



De oppervlakte is meer dan 15km2.

This morning, a video appeared on the Russian Telegram channel Поддубный (epoddubny) showing footage from a Russian drone depicting burned Ukrainian vehicles of various types in the area of the Rodynske-Pokrovsk road intersection with the road to Hryshyne (48.32307,37.20346). This is the result of a fierce battle for control of this intersection and the nearby APK-Invest pig farms, ongoing since roughly the end of August 2025, fought between the Russian 5th and 9th Motorized Rifle Brigades and several different Ukrainian units. The wrecks of Ukrainian vehicles visible in the video (BTR-4, BMC Kirpi, Bvs 10, M1126 Stryker, Kozak-2, M113) are the result of weeks of fighting and at least several Ukrainian counterattacks aimed at pushing Russian assault groups out of the intersection area, which has changed hands at least twice. Zij schrijven erover vandaag (en gisteren). Doelstelling van de aanval lijkt Shakhove te zijn. Het is nog niet duidelijk of de Russen zich hebben kunnen vestigen in het dorpje. Het innemen van het dorpje zou de 2 salients verbinden en de Russen een veel sterkere controle geven over het gebied.

The Ventusky weather radar recorded moderate to slightly heavy rainfall during the morning of October 9 and light rainfall on the morning of October 13 at the respective locations of the Russian mechanized assaults.[7] Another weather monitoring service indicated that the Dobropillya area had several hours of cloudy conditions and fog on the morning of October 6.[8] Several Ukrainian military sources throughout Fall 2025 have discussed how Russian forces have exploited rainy weather conditions that limit Ukraine’s drone operations.[9] An OSINT analyst on X (formerly known as Twitter) reported that Russian forces have also taken advantage of a period of limited Ukrainian drone activity caused by windy weather to create a “bridge“ through a river in the Lyman direction, indicating that Russian forces are attempting to seize on poor weather conditions to set up logistics as well as make advances in several frontline areas. The analyst noted that Russian forces moved five tanks, one infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), and self-propelled artillery over the bridge while Ukrainian drones were not able to operate. The lingering dampness and poor conditions that immediately follow rainfall likely degraded Ukrainian drone capabilities for several hours.

Russian forces may also be reverting back to conducting mechanized assaults in areas where Russian infantry are struggling to advance. Ukrainian military observer Kostyantyn Mashovets noted on October 13 that the Russian units operating in the Dobropillya salient, particularly elements of the 51st CAA, have recently struggled to seize Shakhove after advancing near the settlement.[10] Elements of the 51st CAA, including the 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade, conducted many of the mechanized assaults that Russian forces leveraged to advance west of Donetsk City in Summer and Fall 2025.[11] These units may be reverting back to conducting mechanized assaults in the face of more challenging Ukrainian defensive positions near Shakhove, or potentially after Russian forces assess that Ukrainian defenses are attritted following weeks of Russian infantry assaults.

Eerder deze week bracht de New York Times dit al (Deelartikel met emailsluis) maar ook de Volkskrant meldde dit vanmorgen in haar Oekraïne Liveblog. Rusland gebruikt deelmunitie (bomblets) uit Noord Koreaanse clusterbommen als warhead op hun drones. Zelf lees ik hierin twee dingen:

• een volgend bewijs van de afhankelijkheid van Rusland van Noord-Korea
• er wordt gegrepen naar bestaande voorraden, die eindig zijn

De eigenlijke bron waar beide kranten zich op baseren is het Britse Conflict Armanent Research (CAR).

Wat informatie uit het rapport:

On 10 October 2025, a Conflict Armament Research (CAR) field investigation team physically documented a submunition that Ukrainian authorities recovered following an attack on the port city of Kherson on 23 September 2025. The submunition had been modified to be delivered by a crudely weaponised first-person-view (FPV) uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV).

Een andere in het rapport aangehaalde bron, de Landmine and Cluster munition monitor van het International Campaign to Ban Landmines–Cluster Munition Coalition (ICBL-CMC) in Geneve ([e-mail]) kon levering van clustermunitie aan Rusland bevestigen:

North Korea has produced cluster munitions and stockpiles them. Unexploded submunitions with Korean language markings appeared on the battlefield in Ukraine in May 2025, indicating either use of cluster munitions by North Korean forces or transfers to Russia for use in Ukraine

Deze munitie was afgeleid uit een Amerikaans ontwerp (M42) gebruikt in de Irak oorlog. Dit ontwerp was volgens de New York Times niet erg succesvol:

The M42 has largely been restricted from use by American forces because of its high failure rate and the hazard unexploded bomblets present to friendly forces as well as civilians in post-conflict areas.

Ze zijn nog wel als explosieve lading naar Oekraïne gestuurd. Toen weer heel effectief genoemd:

Regardless, the Biden administration agreed to send 155-millimeter artillery shells containing M42-type submunitions to Ukraine in July 2023. At the time, the Pentagon called them “highly effective and reliable” and said it had consulted with Congress and allied nations before sending them.

Aanwezigheid van Noord-Koreaanse cluster munitie aan het front in Oekraïne is al even sinds midden 2025 bekend (Defense Express). Toe werd de clustermunitie genoemd in haar originele context, als munitie in gebruik bij het Noord Koreaanse Type-75 MLRS systeem.

Er waren de nodige modificaties nodig aan de drone en de submunitie die een beeld geven dat ook aan de Russische kant gewoekerd wordt met beschikbare resources.

While a relatively simple piece of modification, it typifies a wider trend in which conventional forces supplement existing supplies with improvised capacities. The extent to which this discovery represents a localised, operational development – or is reflective of a larger-scale deployment – is something that CAR will continue to monitor.
