De app op m'n LG ziet er wel goed uit verder hoor. Een hele verademing ten opzichte van dat amateuristische zooitje wat zich Viaplay noemt.

- Harry Potter en bijvoorbeeld de Batman (Nolan) trilogie enkel in HD beschikbaar terwijl deze tegelijk op Amazon Prime staan met de mogelijkheid deze in 4K te streamen.

4K en Atmos vind ik overigens heel belangrijk. Verschil tussen 4K streaming en 4K Blu-Ray vind ik al noemenswaardig, laat staan tussen HD en 4K...

Voorlopig lijkt een abonnement vanuit België afsluiten een pak moeilijker dan gedacht.
Als ik via een VPN die op de NL site kan op de subscription webpagina ben, krijg ik meteen een error.

Vanavond eens in detail kijken en uitzoeken. Uiteindelijk zal er wel een manier zijn voor dit te doen werken, zij het via mijn NL Apple account of NL Google Play account.

Zojuist maar het standaardabbo genomen. App staat nu op; LG C8, Nvidia Pro 2019 en de android telefoon toestellen.

Interface op de LG lijkt een één op één kopie van de Netflix app. Netflix opgezegd, ik kijk teveel [bingwatcher] en er is dus niet zoveel meer wat mij aantrekt.

Voor die paar series die ik nog wil zien is er wel een alternatieve manier....

Dus ja, met Standard heb je nu toegang tot alle 4K content op HBO Max. Maar het 4K aanbod is zeer minimaal ten opzichte van wat HBO en Warner via andere media hebben uitgebracht (in 4K). Zie bv ook bovenstaande opmerking m.b.t. de Dark Knight trilogy. Deze is later op blu-ray uitgebracht in 4K en staat blijkbaar zelfs op Amazon Prime in 4K. Maar op HBO Max maar in FHD.

Ik heb nu succesvol een abonnement afgesloten met iDeal/ ING als betaling.

Maar in alles lijkt het alsof ik gewoon een 1-malige betaling heb gedaan, ik zie niet dat het een maandelijkse automatische incasso wordt.

Hij staat ook niet in het lijstje van Automatische Incasso's, een lijst waar ik trouwens flink naar moest zoeken dus het zou ook kunnen dat ik gewoon niet snap hoe automatische incasso's werken bij ING.

Ik neem aan dat ze bedoelen dat de korting vervalt als je geen geldig betaalmiddel hebt. Dus als je creditcard vervalt moet je zelf het betaalmiddel updaten.

Nu is het gewoon heel zuur dat alles wat ik wil kijken voor mijn neus staat, maar wil er echt in volle kwaliteit van genieten dan moet ik het alsnog downloaden in 4K...

Grappige is, ik kon app in AppStore van Apple ook niet vinden. Toen ik op website van hbo account had aangemaakt, toen werd ik naartoe geleden.

Pas wel op. Soms wordt dat niet geaccepteerd. Heb bij andere webwinkels al meegemaakt dat ze geverifieerde IBAN of CC niet accepteren. Enige oplossing was tegoed op je Paypalrekening zetten. Ik gebruik maar mijn CC want voor Paypal ben ik huiverig en is er een kans op mislukte incasso.

Ik ben wel blij met het aanbod moet ik zeggen. Kwalitatief veel beter dan netflix. HBO produceert natuurlijk wel wat minder dus hopelijk blijft er voldoende nieuwe content komen om niet uitgekeken te raken. De series van hbo zijn altijd degene geweest die ik volledig uitkeek en op pc bewaarde.

Nog geen app te vinden op een Samsung QLED Q80A. Moet nog kijken of ie op de shield staat.
App op de telefoon is idd dramatisch. hopelijk passen ze dit snel aan. Op een tablet is het beter.

voor 4e per maand ben ik tevreden met 1080p.

Ik hou het nu bij amazon en hbo. Netflix gaat de deur uit. 90% daarop is echt de grootste generieke bagger.

Klopt, maar als (wanneer?) er een Premium abo komt met 4K, dan vervalt die 50% korting als je daar naartoe wil overstappen. Dus dan zou je dan gelijk van 3,99 naar (bijvoorbeeld) 15 euro per maand gaan, alleen om 4K te kunnen kijken. Uiteraard allemaal nog speculatie, maar imo lijkt het er wel verdacht veel op...

Ik heb nu een abo genomen om te kijken of het wat is, maar voorlopig blijven de diverse piratensites nog wel ff tussen m'n bookmarks staan...

Dan was mijn bericht wellicht niet duidelijk. Vanaf 1 april 2022 biedt HBO Max voor €8 in de maand een ondermaatse streamingervaring. Voor die €4 hoor je mij inderdaad niet klagen maar voor €8 zit je in hetzelfde vaarwater als Disney+ die het wel kunnen!

Ik vergelijk dus met de adviesprijs die vanaf volgende maand ook gewoon de gangbare prijs is.

Dat heb ik dus ook. HBO app geeft aan wanneer volgende factuur datum is maar via de bank niets te zien van auto incasso. Even opletten maar tegen die tijd.

Het kan dus nog erger.


Ze bieden 50% lifetime korting aan, en niet 3,99 lifetime. Met meer aanbod (en wellicht hogere streaming kwaliteit) kan ook de prijs omhoog gaan, waarbij je wel 50% korting behoud.

Klopt, maar daar zit de F1 bij, dat kostte (dacht ik) bij Ziggo al 15 euro per maand, zonder de rest dat ViaPlay erbij plakt. Dus als je door die 720p heen kunt kijken, ook geen slechte deal (alleen slechte beeldkwaliteit )

Wat trouwens ontbreekt uit het HBO aanbod is Larry Sanders. Hebben anderen nog meer dingen gemist?

Ik had 't probleem ook op mijn ene Google account die ik 80 jaar geleden heb aangemaakt. Die staat op het VK denk ik. Andere Google account die ik wat recenter heb aangemaakt staat netjes op Nederland. Daarop kan ik de app wel vinden.

ik ken het aanbod van HBO max niet zo goed en de titels hierboven zeggen mij niet alles. Weet iemand of hier ook een sci-fi serie tussen zit, a la Star trek / stargate / babylon5 / battlestar galactica? Dit is voor mijn moeder, zij houdt van dat soort sci-fi series.

Ik zag Fringe staan toen ik even door het aanbod keek, dat komt denk nog het beste overeen. Helaas worden er geen series meer gemaakt die vergelijkbaar zijn met Star Trek en Stargate (de nieuwe Star Trek series lijken er niet op). The Nevers is ook een goede gegadigde, al is de setting wel... anders

Ik mis Oz. Nooit echt goed gezien, dus dat is wel een kleine teleurstelling.

Ik heb me net aangemeld met het idee dat ik het voor die paar euro altijd een paar maanden uit kan proberen. Ik ben momenteel voornamelijk teleurgesteld in het uitermate karige aanbod van DC animated films. Maar wellicht komt dat nog.

Het serieaanbod van HBO is natuurlijk van topkwaliteit, maar daar heb ik een behoorlijk deel toch al van gezien. Ik geef het voorlopig een kans, maar moet nog maar zien of dit voor mij een blijvertje is.

Over het algemeen heb ik vroeger via de iets minder legale bronnen wel veel HBO series gekeken.

Het filmaanbod heb ik nog niet doorgekeken maar ondertussen heb ik wel de lijsten van Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ en sinds deze week ook Viaplay geactualiseerd

Wel leuk om te horen dat er mensen zijn die blij worden van deze lijstjes

Teveel om op te noemen, HBO series zijn mijn cup of tea.
Dus concreet, The Sopranos (al 3x gezien maar kan nooit genoeg krijgen), Succession, Boardwalk Empire, Band of Brothers, The Wire, Pacific, Six Feet Under en Curb Your Enthouiasm.

Ik kan wel even voor uit.

Ben niet echt blij met de ondertiteling. Enorme koeien letters en of ik het nu groter of kleiner zet in de instelling maakt niet uit. Maar goed waar ik vooral van baal dat het documentaires mist die ik graag wilde kijken, zoals bijv The Talwars: Behind Closed Doors. Bummer 👎

Ik kan de app op mijn TV niet vinden (niet de nieuwste, maar wel Android 7.1.2); als ik op mijn PC in de (Google) Play Store zoek, zegt ie: "This app is available for some of your devices" (waarbij de TV dus een kruisje heeft).

HBO zelf zegt: https://help.hbomax.com/us/Answer/Detail/000001243 dat "Android TV with Android OS 5 or later" zou moeten werken.

Iemand de app al wel kunnen installeren op een Android TV, want casten is leuk, maar vind het (persoonlijk) fijner als het met de native app werkt.
Of moeten 'ze' de Android TV app 'gewoon' nog vrijgegeven (/ regio-lock eraf) voor NL?

Ik ben benieuwd wanneer ze Doom Patrol toevoegen aan de series. Het nieuwe seizoen staat niet op Amazon maar ook niet op HBO (terwijl je wel een avatar uit Doom Patrol kan kiezen). Overigens ook bizar dat je alleen in de mobiele app een avatar in kan stellen.

Onder het Twitter draadje staat de verklaring. Het gaat om de Europese televisiestandaard van 25 fps, terwijl films en series in 24 fps zijn geschoten.
Netflix, Disney etc. kunnen het schijnbaar wel goed doen, dus waarom zou je deze variant in een streamingdienst gebruiken...

Voor de reguliere televisie begrijp ik het. Daar is de Europese standaard 25fps waar de opnames vaak in 24fps zijn. Met bepaalde technieken kan wel het beeld versneld worden en de toonhoogte aangepast worden zodat deze hetzelfde bleef (bijv. op DVD's) maar (correct me if I'm wrong) is het versnellen op een streamingsdienst totaal niet nodig. Zover ik weet gebruikt Netflix ook de originele FPS.

Ik zit niet diep genoeg in de materie om hier verder wat nuttigs over te zeggen.

In het draadje staan inmiddels ook 3 video's met voorbeelden.

Kan je het beter vergelijken met Ziggo Movies & Series waar het beperkte HBO aanbod tot voor kort onder viel.

Op mijn Sony Bravia uit 2015 met Android 7.0 is de app beschikbaar.

Onder het Twitter draadje staat de verklaring. Het gaat om de Europese televisiestandaard van 25 fps, terwijl films en series in 24 fps zijn geschoten.
Netflix, Disney etc. kunnen het schijnbaar wel goed doen, dus waarom zou je deze variant in een streamingdienst gebruiken...

Het ligt er toch eerder aan hoe het aangeboden wordt?
Een recente TV zal zowel met 24 als 25 fps uit de voeten kunnen. Dus als HBO het gewoon in 24fps aanbiedt dan kan je tv dat toch afspelen.

Als ik naar m'n blu-ray en dvd collectie kijk.. (ja ik ben zo iemand..) heb ik vrij veel van HBO al fysiek thuis liggen..

Enige is natuurlijk.. gaan de nieuwe series nog fysiek worden uitgegeven, hoogstwaarschijnlijk niet gezien de trend. Maar om dan nu al te gaan betalen met korting voor series wat ze nog moeten gaan uitbrengen..... i dunno

Bij sommige films maakt het me niet uit, maar bij Dune vind ik het toch wel een must en ook bij LOTR vind ik het wel echt iets toevoegen.

Ja, er is geen filter voor dus je moet wel elke film apart af maar het is wel vooraf in te zien.
Dune is 4K, LOTR niet.

Dat was vroeger wel altijd zo hoor: films waren 24 fps. PAL is 50i/25p en NTSC is 60i/30p. Films werden in PAL 4% sneller afgespeeld, maar voor NTSC zo opgezet dat de 24 frames exact binnen de 60 frames vielen (door een 3:2 pull down).

Dune is 4K, LOTR niet.

Dat is jammer... LOTR heeft volgens mij allang in 4k op Amazon gestaan, dus die versies bestaan wel, ook via streaming.

Misschien dat HBO toch al aan het voorsorteren is op een premiumabo. Wat ook niet per se slecht is, afhankelijk van de prijs natuurlijk.

Ja ik neem aan dat alle 'recente' hardware dat wel ondersteund. Maar als HBO alleen 25fps aanbied heb je die keuze zelf niet.

Vanmorgen aangemeld en geabonneerd ("vergeten" te wachten op meer informatie over advertenties tussen de content, zie mijn berichtje in het recente disney advertenti draadje).

Maar goed: dune en the matrix (4) in dolby vision en atmos.
Op de tv (55oled706) wordt dat ook beide aangegeven met een melding, maar op de sony receiver (oud 5.1 model met alleen maar optisch in, dus geen hdmi in) alleen "Normal Surround"

Als ik de viaplay app op de tv gebruik dan heb ik dat wel bij hun content. Als ik hbo max cast naar een chromecast ultra (zo een uit de stadia set) heb ik wel "digitaal surround" op de sony receiver.

Nog iets raars: de ondertitels staan bij gebruik van de chromecast niet altijd in het midden

Thanks, ik zie dat ik mijn vraag anders had moeten stellen. Ik heb de lijst met het volledige aanbod gevonden, maar ik wil graag zien wat er onder de Cartoon Network hub valt. Er zijn genoeg programma's die ik niet meer bij naam herinner, maar wel graag wil zien

Maar in ieder geval als op de HBO Max website wat naar onder scroll kan ik kiezen of ik het aanbod van HBO, Max originals, WB of CN wil zien.

Had men ook al aangegeven voordat HBO Max live ging dat later oudere content in 4K mogelijk zou volgen. Nieuwe content is 45 dagen na bioscoop release, inclusief 4K-versie.

Hier ging het aanmelden gelukkig goed. Via creditcard gedaan in de Play Store van Android.
Vanmiddag maar even testen op de Nvidia Shield hoe het allemaal loopt. Het aanbod is in ieder geval erg goed zag ik al!

Het boeit me persoonlijk niet zo (heb Netflix 4K abo ook teruggezet naar HD toen de prijs verhoogd werd), maar het is op zich wel een beetje vreemd dat LOTR op Prime nu nog gewoon in 4K te streamen is terwijl HBO het op hun eigen platform niet in 4K aanbiedt (terwijl ze andere films weer wel in 4K aanbieden)

Ik heb exact dezelfde route gevolgd (geregistreerd op website, betaald met Ideal) en kan in ieder geval op de site gewoon kijken.

Ik heb op mijn LG een optie die heet Real cinema. Die maakt er toch 24 fps van? Ik ben te doof om het te horen en zien doe ik het ook niet.

Schande van zowel de 24/25 fps als het minimale aanbod in 4K, valt gewoon niet goed te praten. Disney+ had het vanaf het begin goed voor elkaar, alles in de beste kwaliteit.

Zou het misschien een licentie dingetje kunnen zijn, dat prime nog voor een bepaalde tijd exclusief de 4k versie mag aanbieden.
