Ok since we are getting more and more shadow priests I think it's time for some info about raiding with shadow priest and where our focus should be with our gear.
Talent spec:

This would be the perfect tallent tree for a raiding shadow priest, in disc the Imp forti to support the holy priests with buffing. With meditation and inner focus since every bit of mana regen or free spells are helping.
In shadow 5/5 shadow focus till you get more +hit from gear, use the following table to decide how many point in shadow focus you need.
code:
1
2
3
4
5
6
| 76 hit is the cap with 5/5 Shadow Focus
101 hit before you can go to 4/5 Shadow Focus
126 hit before you can go to 3/5 Shadow Focus
152 hit before you can go to 2/5 Shadow Focus
177 hit before you can go to 1/5 Shadow Focus
202 hit before you can go to 0/5 Shadow Focus |
When you can start taking points away at shadow focus you can put those points in other shadow talents, i recomend putting them into Imp MB, since as soon as you get more +dmg you'll start using that one more.
Gear:
+shadow dmg > all.
That's the basis you can use but don't forget that you also need +hit, stam and int. Without 8k unbuffed you won't survive many fights with ease. So get that health up. Aim for 9k unbuffed mana. And for 126+ hit rating.
To get these amounts you'll need to be pretty decently geared, but that's the aime.
When you got those ammounts start stacking +shadow dmg, a lot. The more you got the more mana and health you regen.
Raid preperation:
Pots and other things to boost your +dmg are very usefull. I personaly always use:
- Elixir of Major Shadow Power (+55 shadow dmg)
- Elixir of Major Mageblood (+16mp5)
- Superior Wizard Oil (+42 dmg)
- buff food with +23 dmg
That boosts your +shadow dmg with a total of 120 wich is alot!
If we are going to a new boss it might be smart to just use a Flask of Supreme Power (+70dmg) + oil. (Or when 2.2 comes out the Flask of Pure Death (+80 shadow/fire/frost dmg) ).
Damage Cycle:
Start building up the fight with applying the dots, VT - SW:P - VE. And till the tank has agro keep using MF.
When the tank has enough threat you can start trowing in MB and SW:D (yes SW:D the damage you apply to yourself is being healed up in very short time with VE), and keep the dots up, ALWAYS. But don't reaply to early or you'll waste mana, in the ideal world you want to apply a new SW:P 0.1 sec after the last 1 has done his last dmg, and recast VT when your current 1 only has 1 sec to go.
Use your trinkets wisely. Example before your first VT and do you SW:P after it and refresh your VT before the trinket works out to have maximum result.
But most of all stay awake and keep your agro under the tank, since we don't have any permanent agro reductions (exept dieing) we need to be on the balls.
Little advice to have your dots up all the time is using a addon that gives you the times on them, I use quartz for this but you can also use dottimer.
Our raid roll:
Don't forget that our main roll in raids isn't doing top 3 damage(even tho that's very well possible) but regenning mana and health for our party and our debuffs like misery and Shadow infunerability.
