Forgotten Hope Interview (English)
Firehead/ Sotoro: Hi Master Minder! First of all in the name of modguide.de, PlanetBattlefield.de and of course our faithful community we want to say thanks for spending your time for this interview. We all hope that you can give us answers to all our questions. Let’s start with the first one!
Master Minder: It’s a pleasure for me. Let’s go!
Sotoro: A few people will be wondering why you created a WWII mod which is particularly similar to the original BF1942 game. Can you explain where the difference between Forgotton Hope and BF1942 is?
Master Minder: Basically FH is “only” an extension for BF1942. The idea was to improve the original BF1942 game.
Firehead: How many people are actually involved in this project?
Master Minder: Actually we’ve only a few people working active for the mod but entirely we’re 15 people.
Sotoro: Did you create any special features which are exclusively made for FH?
Master Minder: Yes! We created a lot of things which are really new to the game. These things are always known but they weren’t used before, for instance trains, a new damage system and a new class system.
Firehead: You know that **** symbols are strongly forbidden in Germany. How did you solve this in the game?
Master Minder: We’ll publish two different versions of FH. The first one will be an uncensored international version; the second one will be a version for the German and Japanese area.
Sotoro: If you take a look at your Homepage you’ll see a lot of models (vehicles, weapons etc.). How many of them will be involved in the first FH version or do you plan to involve them step by step?
Master Minder: Actually we don’t know exactly how many of them will be in the first release but it’s a matter of fact that not every plane or vehicle will take part in the first Alpha. We try to integrate as much as possible.
Firehead: In BF1942 it’s rather easy to control the vehicles. Will you improve that though?
Master Minder: Definitely yes! People who had looked at our forum before might have seen a lot of stories about the different handlings of vehicles and planes.
Sotoro: Back to the trains. Will this be a completely new gameplay? I’m thinking about “S&D” missions where the trains could be a kind of moveable targets. Can we expect anything like this?
Master Minder: We’re thinking about maps and missions where the main subject or target is a train but at this moment I don’t want to say anything more about it.
Sotoro: It’s repeated often to the FH mod, that it concentrates on airplanes too strongly and ground vehicles are neglected. Is this true or will the relation between planes and ground vehicles be equalled?
Master Minder: This rumor arose presumably after we posted a long time only about airplanes in our news but who once flings a blick however into our Vehicles Section will state, that we’ve twice as many vessels as country vehicles.
Firehead: Do you think that FH is interspersed opposite DC or EOD?
Master Minder: I personally find that both Mods are very interesting - in the arrangement I would of course always favour FH but I think every developer with his Mod would do that too since one is simply proud of his done job. Therefore I do not think that my answer can be objective
Sotoro: With the upcoming expansion pack "Secret Weapons of WWII" EA will go a rather “Action” - like way. Something you hold from that and perhaps will this have also effects on FH since it seems better to the players too fallen than a realistic game?
Master Minder: Oh ever, FH has to offer at least as much action. I don’t think that it will have effects on us because we’ll release much formerly and our fan municipality stands now more on realism.
Firehead: Did you have any obstacles that had arisen from the 1.4 patch?
Master Minder: Some at the code had to be re-worked that has stopped us, however, but only indirect because some days after 1.4 we had a 1.4 faultless version ready.
Firehead: Do you pay always attention to historical correctness with your vehicles and at your arms?
Master Minder: Natural, what would be a Mod that puts on realism without realistic vehicles?
Sotoro: I guess you can’t hear the question in an indeed certain way anymore, but I set it up once in spite of that. When can we reckon approximately on the first public release of FH?
Master Minder: It’s a matter of fact that we ourselves don’t know this exactly. At the moment we bumped off a lot of bugs and finish many other things. It would be nevertheless pitiful, when already the first version would have innumerable bugs, wouldn’t it? However, you could look up already on our HP that we try do release it at the end of July or at the beginning of August.
Firehead and Sotoro: We already thank you for the time and your patience that you raised for this interview and keep on requesting you and your team a lot of success with Forgotten Hope !!!
Master Minder: Thanks, furthermore I also wish you a lot of success with your fanpages - C'ya
