Ik heb precies hetzelfde als jij. Erg irritant idd.
Dit lees ik net op de site:
Wow.
Before I give you an update on the status of our testing, let me take a moment to congratulate you all.
Wow.
Those of you from earlier phases probably remember the jokes about smelling the servers melting down each time we've added more people in our scaling and load testing process.
I just finished my round of meetings to find out exactly what our status is and what is being done to resolve bugs and problems. When I left they were still looking a bit shell-shocked.
Well done! You just managed to break the servers
Which happily is exactly the sort of things we were hoping you'd pull off for us. In doing so, you just helped us find three major bugs.
A timing problem related to the amount of time it takes to get into the game after you select your character and before you actually get past the map screen. This is causing some people to be knocked back to character selection or the desktop.
A database bug that is the root cause of the timing issue mentioned above, that not only causes those slow load times when changing sectors or entering the game. This causes your character to get stuck for long periods of time.
Issues with the way the patch server distributes the patches to the most recent download image. This causes a huge patch on top of a huge download.
So, thank you!
We couldn't have found these problems without your assistance and we're so glad that we have identified them and will get them fixed before we go to a full public test or launch. Our philosophy has always emphasized handling load and scaling first as a priority, before subjecting beta testers or the general public to server instability of that magnitude. (We learned that lesson by watching other MMORPG launches)
So, what are we doing now?
1) We've just downed the server and engaged our throttle to restrict the number of players in the game. That'll make the game more entertaining for those that want to play right now and still give us the opportunity to continue to collect data and monitor the proxy's status. We thought it better that some people play and enjoy themselves than that everyone try to play and have no one have fun.
2) We've got an issue with how the patch servers compute the proper patch to deliver to each person. It's based on what files you already have and there can be multiple versions (and in fact are) out there so it's not a simple replacement of everything. We're working on getting a complete image with the current patch included built so we can offer it for download. It's gonna be huge, but it's a way around the current patch issues. Of course, the guys are working on how to resolve the underlying issues too.
3) We've removed the download files for the moment, because we don't want anymore people running into the patcher problem. As soon as the new image is approved (hopefully today) we'll reopen those downloads and anyone that downloads from that location won't have to get the patch.
4) We're working on migrating to our new website (you might have seen the splash screen) to help with the lag here and the problems authenticating and entering this area.
When I have any updates, I'll provide another news item here.
The fact that Phase 7 load testing is working is great news for us here and the entire team is really fired up to tackle the bugs you've revealed.
So, thank you! Your enthusiasm and willingness to help us make the game stable before the start of the public test will make it possible for us to assure a stable launch when we finally go live.
