Yi 4K action camera announced for $200
Compared to the original Xiao Yi Camera, the new 4K model sees quite a price increase, but the device does ship with better hardware than the most advanced GoPro cameras.
Yi’s new 4K camera isn’t as affordable as many of you may have hoped, but considering the level of hardware, the features, and it’s nearest rival costs almost double, the 4K action camera is still a good deal.
This time around Yi have decided to deck out their latest camera with all the latest hardware and seemed to pay close attention to the specs of the Go Pro Hero 4 Black. The result is a camera with a faster chipset, newer Sony sensor, 4K video support, large battery and even a built-in Retina display.
Using a 12 mega-pixel Sony IMX377 chipset and Ambarella A9SE75S chipset, the Yi can capture 4K @ 30fps, in 1080 frame rates jump to 120 and 720 recording sees frame rates at 240. In addition to this there is a built-in slow motion video recording mode, built-in editing features (for short videos up to 30 seconds) and the large 1400mAh battery can get you through 2 hours of 2K video recording (or 8 hours in standby).
The camera comes in either black, white or pink and ships with a waterproof case, cover, UV lenses, filters, Bluetooth remove and floating ball accessories. So far the camera is only on sale in China, but expect resellers to offer them in the coming weeks.
