OK, guys, I know all of you are very anxious to get your hands on the next firmware, but it is just not ready yet...
I decided to push this second beta, for you guys to see the progress and for all the people out there that despite the last wifi changes are still having issues with it to connect.
The one major thing that at this point that is still WIP and in the middle of a full rewrite to the new kernel is basically the power system. So if that is the most important thing for you, it might be better to hang on till that part is done completely.
Changelog:
• Network setup now uses the WiFi Network Manager script (Skin support is WIP) (LAN integration is WIP).
• Added network/internet connection state icon on home top menu.
• Fixed more misaligned stuff in dialogs (Peripherals and SmartPlaylist Editor).
• Fixed scroll bug in Music ListView.
• Removed mome unused textures and code.
• USB big disk support
• USB NTFS Read/Write support
• USB disk are now mounted based on format label /media/<LABEL> (fix DB problems because of mountpoint changes)
• Latest linux kernel from Amlogic (complete overwhole) again; Power system still WIP.
• Latest codecs/firmwares from Amlogic factory / multimedia system.
• A lot of small tweaks and fixes.
Some help with the network:
- LAN is connected automatically via DHCP on boot. So if you use a wired connection, just connect it and boot. It will just work.
- WiFi now is configured by a plugin that taps into the Network Manager system of the underlying linux OS.
1) Either use the first time wizard, the network link on the top home menu or via the plugin itself under "Programs"-> "WiFi manager"
2) Cick "Add" and select the SSID of choice.
3) Insert your password and OK
4) It will set the connection up and connects afterwards.
5) It will state "connected" and a " > " i being putted upfront of the SSID in the list.
6) You can add more SSIDS to this list if you want and connect to them at will. Only one can be active.
7) Press "Cancel / Close" to close the dialog and get back to the main system.
- If you have both LAN and WiFi connected, you will have two IP's but the WiFI is preferred at the moment as that connection is initiated later than the LAN. (this will change when LAN integrates into the same system)
