Tyre Manufacturers Aim to Slow Cars
F1T reporter 2008-09-19 19:41:47
F1T race officials, concerned about safety in light of the speeds of the cars and looking to improve the on track racing, met with the tyre manufacturer association during the off season. The manufacturers all agreed to alter their rubber to comply with the new regulations. The outcome of the new regulations means that:
1. Tyre wear has NOT changed. Wear rates are all the same.
2. Tyre performance gaps between the dry compounds increased a bit.
3. Lap times will increase, in some case quite a lot, as the times are slowed to approximate current F1 and add realism.
4. Tyres will lose speed more drastically as the rain gets heavier. You will see a bigger time difference between 10 and 20 mm then last season for example.
5. When the tyres are most effective for the particular weather may have shifted slightly.
Edit/ De C1 race is erg interessant qua weer, geeft ook meteen een hoop informatie over de veranderingen van Tadas.
