2. Ik ga dat topic in de helpdesksectie over Shadermodel 2.0-support opnieuw openen hoor, volgens mij negeren ze het gewoon daar, maar ik zal ze kríjgen!
[Future Shadermodel 2.0(B)-support for SC:DA?]
Dear Ubisoft,
As we speak you have already produced lots of Splinter Cell-games, which we (me and lots of other Splinter Cell-fans) really appreciate because of the good gameplay and a good atmosphere ingame...
With the introduction of Splinter Cell Double Agent lots of people have been left outside alone, because of the one-and-only-support for Shader Model 3.0-cards, like the ATi Radeon X1x00-series and nVidia's GeForce 6x00, 7x00, and 8x00-productlines. The problem is that cards like the ATi 9x00 (SM2.0) and X300/X600/X700/X8x0 (SM2.0B) won't run the game at all, because they are not supported by Ubisoft.
When we look in the past, we saw with Chaos Theory that these older cards could only run SM1.0 and SM1.1-modes, and after a month you brought out a patch which enabled SM2.0 with (almost) the same possibilities as the SM3.0-cards. I'd like to thank you for that because personally I love thingies like HDR and Tone Mapping and stuff, because it has made the gameplay even more immersive!
With this on my mind, I would like to stress the point that a real big share of the market has real SM2.0(B)-cards. And if you know that in a large number of countries people just have no money to buy a new videocard, I think it is not totally rubbish to emphasise the point that Ubisoft is about to miss a real big piece of the money-pie. And that would be a shame because I find you one of the better game-developerstudios nowadays, simple as that.
Finally, with all these information read and considered, I have two questions for you, which are the following:
1. Has Ubisoft plans to release a patch for SC: Double Agent in order to support older videocards like mentioned above?
2. If the answer to question 1 is Yes, can you say anything about the releasedate of this patch?
Please do note that we customers are quickly satisfied, we don't ask to play the game on detailsettings which are practically only reachable on SM3.0-hardware with High Dynamic Range Lighting, we are prepared to play Splinter Cell Double Agent with lower graphics, because we know that programming is hard so we do not ask the most impossible things of you. But do not leave us outside alone, that would hurt your imago of a great game-producer in the future, think on the longterm.
With kind regards,
