Dat komt natuurlijk door de geweldige graphics en de gameplay, maar misschien ook wel doordat we al meerdere keren even hebben kunnen proeven van de typische Lineage 2 gameplay welke zo heerlijk verslavend is of kan zijn.
En dan heb ik het natuurlijk over de beta's. We hebben er al heel wat op zitten, een open beta van Korea, Taiwan, China en momenteel Amerika. En zo'n beetje elke open beta kende ook z'n closed beta welke hieraan vooraf ging. Op dit moment is Lineage 2 al 'retail gegaan', de beta's zijn dus afgelopen en voor een klein bedrag kunnen we nu gaan hakken in de prachtige wereld.
De kosten zijn als volgt:

In totaal zijn er 5 rassen, 2 geslachten en 2 soorten jobs. De 5 rassen zijn: Human, Elf, Dark Elf, Orc & Dwarf. De geslachten zijn natuurlijk man & vrouw en de 2 soorten jobs zijn fighter & mystic (mage). Een korte uitleg over elk ras, inclusief een plaatje en statistieken om een indruk te krijgen van hoe de rassen eruit zien:
Human:
Humans are the race of diversity and potential. Among god’s creatures, Humans were the weakest. However, they have cultivated their own destiny and now they are standing at the top of all other races on the entire continent. Among all races, they have the highest proportion of people holding high level professions and they have the balanced capability to handle all types of professions. The representative secondary classes for Humans are Knight, Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, and Wizard etc.
Elf:
Elf is the race that worships the goddess of water. They have slim figures and long ears and are characterized by their pure and innocent beauty. Since the era of giants, they had held the highest position above all god’s creatures. However since the giants were destroyed and the era of power arrived, the elves power has declined. Now, they dwell in one part of the forest that is part of Aden territory.
Dark Elf:
Dark Elf is the race that follows Shilen, the goddess of death who used to be the goddess of water before her fall from grace. Originally, the Dark Elves used to belong to the Elven tribes. When the Elves were defeated by Humans, some of the Elves decided to learn black magic, the power of Gran Kain and Shilen, in order to obtain the power to defeat Humans. Their overall appearance is similar to that of Elves. However, they are taller and have sallow skin and silver hair.
Orcs:
Orcs are of the race of fire. Among all god’s creatures, they have the most powerful physical strength. After the destruction of the giants, they once were able to chase out the force of Elves and gained the most powerful position on the continent. However they ended up getting defeated by the elf-Human alliance and now they are living in the arctic territory located in the northern part of the continent.
Dwarf:
The Dwarves are the race of earth. They like to create things and possess strong physical power and excellent manual dexterity. After the destruction of the giants, the Dwarven race adopted the policy of “siding with the most powerful” and as a result they became an isolated race being hated by all other races. Their structure of society can be compared to a giant corporation and even though Humans rule over the continent, Dwarves are renowned for their business savvy and capacity for organization. The class of Dwarf is largely divided into Raiders who find and retrieve raw materials and Artisans who manufacture products out of raw materials.

Om dat nog maar eens te bewijzen volgen hier enkele screenshots die ik heb geschoten van mijn speler, geresized en wel. Het zijn verder geen bewerkte plaatjes, op sharpen (omdat het geresized is) en het resizen na.
Maar aan dat soort graphics hangt natuurlijk ook een prijskaartje. NCSoft zelf zegt het volgende over de System Requirements:

Een aantal mensen op GoT spelen op een zogeheten Private Server. Er zijn legale applicaties die de Lineage 2 server kunnen simuleren, waardoor je gratis kan spelen. Laat het even duidelijk zijn dat aanpassingen aan de client, zoals L2.ini bestanden illegaal zijn! Om op een private server te kunnen spelen, hoef je niet persee je ciënt te patchen, maar in de meeste gevallen toch wel. We gaan er dus gewoon van uit dat je zelf wel dit soort illegale patches kan vinden, als je op een private server wil spelen. Links naar sites van private servers zijn vaak ook niet op prijs gesteld: hier staan vaak links naar patches voor de cilënt in.
De rates op een private server zijn vaak verschillend met deze van de retail server. Hierdoor komt het voor dat mensen binnen enkele dagen al level 40 zijn. Niet iedereen vind dit leuk, maar laat het even duidelijk zijn dat dit een topic is om gewoon te praten over Lineage. Of dit spel nou gespeeld wordt op een private server of op retail, de vragen zijn vaak hetzelfde en evengoed te beantwoorden. Probeer dus gewoon lief te zijn voor elkaar, ook als iemand op een private server speelt.
