"On a 2021 Ford Kuga (Mk3),
you can absolutely link memory seat positions to your key fobs through Personal Profiles via your SYNC screen, without needing physical physical 1 or 2 door buttons. However, there is a technical limitation you must bypass first
The Bad News (and the Fix)
By default, the 2021 Ford Kuga uses standard
power seat motors without position sensors (potentiometers) if the car was not factory-ordered with memory buttons. Standard power seats only move when you press a switch, but they do not "know" exactly where they are located. To make key fob programming work, your car must first be told that it has a
Driver Seat Module (DSM), and you must activate the software side.
Step 1: FORScan Configuration
You need to change the vehicle configuration to look for personal profiles and a memory seat module.
- Open FORScan Software and connect to your Kuga.
- Go to Configuration and Programming.
- Select APIM (As-Built) or the plain APIM Configuration (non-As-Built is easier).
- Locate the parameter named Personal Profiles (or Memory Seats Presence) and change it to Enabled or True.
- Locate the BCM (Body Control Module) and ensure Memory Seats is set to Enabled.
- Click Write to save the changes, cycle the vehicle ignition, and reset the APIM module.
Step 2: Programming the Key Fob via SYNC
Once FORScan activates the software feature, a new
Personal Profiles menu will appear on your dashboard touchscreen. Use this menu to link your positions directly to your key fob:
- Turn the ignition on and ensure the transmission is in Park (P).
- Manually adjust your power seat and side mirrors to your preferred position.
- On your touchscreen, go to Settings > Personal Profiles.
- Select or create a profile (e.g., Driver 1).
- Touch the arrow next to the profile name and select Link Keyfob.
- Follow the prompt on the screen, which will ask you to press the Unlock button on your key fob to pair your current seat position directly to that specific key. [1, 3, 4]
Note: If the seat still fails to move when unlocking with the key fob after doing this, your seat track lacks the internal feedback sensors required to track position. In that scenario, you would need to retrofit a memory-capable seat track mechanism.
Geen idee of dit werkt en of mijn licentie voor FORscan nog werkt maar zou het dan kunnen proberen.
