The Match.
It's not just the booing is it? Its the appalling social media racism too.
But not to worry, the apologists will be along soon enough.
I regret to say, no matter your political allegiance or outlook, outrageous public racism was not happening at this level before the Brexit vote.
Once the "stop the immigrants" campaign started Alt Right stepped out of the shadows, populists climbed on board and the politicians could'nt lick fast enough. They're still licking.
A European football match is simply not going to redeem the loss of the British Empire, should you feel that to be a loss.
The English Nation is divided by the culture wars; not so in Scotland and Wales. The divide in England is encouraged by the self seekers of the Left and Right.
I have been travelling the world for over half a century, including military service. Time was, being English was a welcomed status - we were generally recognised for fairness, politeness, integrity and humility. Above all - a belief in democracy and willingness to get stuck in and help the less fortunate.
No longer. And this blatant racism, on a global stage, confirms how far we've fallen.
Boris' was quick to decry the actions this morning; good. But his government and his Ministers continue follow Alt Right tropes.
Can we please have an untainted selfless leader step forward and cry "Come on England, let's work for the common good"
Some people are disgusting. These guys some as young as 19 have stood there and faced a man who looked like goliath with the entire weight of a nation's expectations on their shoulders. So what if they messed up? It's disappointing for the nation but it is only a game. Yes they get paid ludicrous amounts to kick a ball about, but they are human and do not deserve that kind of abuse. A standard ribbing would be expected (like say you might have given Kane or Maguire if they messed up) but why the racist remarks? Yesterday we walked away with a group of young people we can be proud of and who have a good shot at the world cup. But we also showed a very ugly side of ourselves as a nation, we should be more disappointed with our own conduct then the results of the match.
Oftewel er is zeker een groep racisten in Engeland, maar om het hele land over een kam te scheren is niet terecht..
zelfs BoJo maakt er een issue van:
