Hier even een eerste uitgebreide review van de M86/87 en calibration settings voor deze mooie LCD.

Hi all, I have had my LE40M86BD since Tuesday and have spent a ridiculous amount of time with it as I have been off work this week - I noticed that there doesn't really appear to be an in depth review so hear are my thoughts.
Design - Personally I think the TV looks amazing in the flesh, the screen is very reflective but this has not been a problem at all when viewing and it really does contribute significantly to the picture quality. The bezel is very glossy and is an absolute dust magnet however! This really does look like an expensive piece of kit and everyone who has seen it is amazed.
Standard Definition - The picture out of the box is pretty poor in my oppinion, this TV requires extensive tweaking as the factory settings are awful but once you have played around a bit the picture is great. I think my old CRT slightly pips this but that is probably down to the fact that it was only a 28" model, once you blow SD up to 40" you start to see all of the flaws.
The picture quality does also appear to be very channel dependent, for example CBeebies looks amazingly clear where as sometimes ITV can look comparatively worse. Overall though it's SD and it looks as good as I would have liked it to look so no complaints.
High Definition - Like a lot of people I bought this to accompany my PS3 so I was eager to plug it in and see how it looked. I do not have sufficient command of the English language to describe to you how this looks in high definition! Going from SD to full 1080 HD is awe inspiring. The picture is beyond crisp, the colours on this screen are absolutely phenomenal.
I have two games for the PS3, Motorstorm and Resistance - Motorstorm is probably the best looking game I have ever seen on this tv, everything just looks so real it is eery. Resistance is phenomenal also, although these game are only 720p you will simply not believe your eyes. Oh and for you gamers out there worried about response time and motion blur - this panel handles games amazingly so stop fretting (I do not use gamer mode by the way).
DVD - I am using a PS3 to play DVD's which does not upscale and the picture is out of this world, my children watch a lot of animated films such as Cars and Happy Feet and they really do look stunning on this set. I think the biggest difference is the richness of the colours, I cannot wait for the firmware upgrade for the PS3!
Blu-Ray - I only have two films which are Pearl Harbour and Kingdom of Heaven and they both look stunning, the quality of DVD is incomparable. I have not noticed any issues at all on this panel regarding judder, everything ran smoothly and looked ace. I downloaded the Casino Royale trailer (at 1080p) and I must have wached it over 30 times it looks that amazing - in fact it is usually the clip that I show everyone to get them green with envy!
Wii - I have a Wii hooked up via Component and I must say that going from the full HD of a PS3 to standard definition Wii is a real blow to the senses! There is no fault with the TV, the picture is far superior to my old CRT but it's the console itself - Wii Sports for example looks crisp and colourful but there are jaggies everywhere. I used to think that Zelda was one of the prettiest games I had ever seen but the Wii just isn't in the same league as the PS3 on a HD TV. Oh well, graphics aren't everything!
Issues - The settings out of the box are shocking, it uses a mode called Dynamic and it will fry your eyeballs. There have been huge discussions on the US forums about black crush as well, this TV needs to be tweaked to get the best picture - there are so many adjustments and settings that it can be a little overwhelming. I will post my settings after this message in case others are struggling (these are from a professional calibration).
There has also been talk of handshake problems between this TV and the PS3 with HDMI, I use a fairly expensive cable (IXOS XHT458 I believe which costs about £70) and have had no problems at all, everything looks and runs amazing.
Conclusion - I was looking for a TV to compliment my PS3 and I am happier than I have ever been with a purchase, even my wife is constantly stunned by this TV. Once tweaked this set is undescribably good, for any of you waiting for the perfect PS3 partner this is it!

These setting were taken from someone who had there set professionally calibrated, the only adjustment that I made was to add Dynamic Contrast (Low) as I felt it brought out great shadow detail. These are the settings for my PS3 through HDMI, my Wii and SD settings differ but these were the basis.
Hope that is of use as the factory settings are awful.
Hier word ik nu vrolijk van...
