Ik had al zo'n vermoeden, ik had de lijst al gevonden maar wou het even zeker weten voor ik dingen ging aanvinken daar. In de tussentijd had ik het anders opgelost door gewoon op de cd te zoeken en de pakketten vanaf daar te installeren. Helaas werkt ndiswrapper nog steeds niet goed, ik kan de driver installeren en gewoon modprobe doen etc, etc. echter wil de kaart niet "aan" gaan. Lampjes blijven uit. Maarja we blijven zoeken, heb ik weer wat te doen in het weekend :+

Even een klein vraagje , moet ik voor xgl Ubuntu hebben draaien of mag het ook Kubuntu zijn ?
Ik blijf verder prutsen voor het installeren van men nvidia drivers , lijkt wel hopeloos :( . Verder is deze dapper drake echt goed :) .

Dit snap ik echt niet, even met apt-get, synaptic of adept de nvidia drivers binnenhalen en dan type je: "sudo nvidia-glx-config enable" of je edit je /etc/X11/xorg.conf en veranderd nv in nvidia

Moest dit werken , zou ik allang aan het gamen zijn onder linux ;) . Heel vreemd maar deze methode werkt (net zoals de nvidia drivers van nvidia.com) niet 8)7
 
hoi mensen,

ik moet zeggen heb nooit met linux gewerkt. maar dit ziet er werkelijk zwaar gelikt uit.
nadeel voor mij is ik speel best wel wat spellen. en dat zal wel niet zo heel goed gaan onder linux. de distro is gewoon masterlijk als je naar het uiterlijk kijkt en de actie bar is gewoon zo masterlijk verzonnen, wedden dat MS dat actiebar idee gewon gaat overnemen. alleen daarvoor zou je al de distro op je systeem moeten gooien.

mn hdd is helaas vol anders had ik wel geprobeerd om dit erop te zetten en ermee te spelen. gewoon als normale os en dan winxp als spellen os.

maar waar moet je als beginner nou op letten met linux en dan voral ubunto? iemand tips for reading?

Waarom werkt het niet? Paste de output van diverse logs eens dan?

Misschien overbodig om te zeggen, maar veel van die problematiek is al uittentreure besproken op ubuntuforums.org . Doe een paar goede searches en je vindt altijd wel wat!
Niet dat ik deze thread daarmee overboord wil gooien, maar opnieuw wielen uitvinden is denk ik ook niet nuttig...

Ik heb even de logs opgezocht van verschillende pogingen om de nvidia drivers werkend te krijgen , hopelijk kunnen jullie me nu een beetje verderhelpen ?

Dit is het log als ik de nvidia drivers laat installeren door het 'easy ubuntu' script en daarna in men xorg.conf de driver "nv" verander door driver "nvidia".

Telken gaat het fout bij het laden van X en blijft mijn scherm zwart. Dit valt alleen op te lossen door even te booten in 'safe mode' en dan in men xorg.conf de driver terug op 'nv' te zetten. De persoon die me hiermee helpt , blijf ik eeuwig dankbaar , ik ben al lang aan het prutsen om de nvidia drivers werkend te krijgen :P .

Je hebt zowel de drivers van de nvidia-site geinstalleert als de driver uit de ubuntu-repository, daarom zegt ie dat er twee delen van je driver niet hetzelfde versienummer hebben.

Verwijder eens de repository-versie en herinstalleer de driver van de nvidia-site.
Als dat niet werkt, herinstallen en één (1) methode proberen en troubleshooten.

Ik heb alle sporen van de nvdia installer gedeleted en alles met adept geuninstalled.
Hierna heb ik dan het installeren van de nvidia drivers gedaan zoals beschreven staat in die xgl guide.

Hierna wilde men X weer niet opstarten :( , hier is heel men log.

Ook lees ik "Het grafische deel van Ubuntu is vanaf de grond opnieuw opgebouwd en sterk verbeterd met behulp van de UbuntuLooks Theme Engine." Kortom, het enigste wat ze doen is even de GTK theme engine veranderen en jij beweert gelijk dat het grafische deel van de grond af aan opnieuw is opgebouwd? Het grafische deel is veel meer dan alleen de GTK theme enigne.
Zoals ik het zie zijn de grootste veranderingen de nieuwe installatiemethode, een nieuw uiterlijk/theme en laatste updates van alle apps. Niet dat daar iets verkeerd mee is. Ik vind de startpost maar matig.

euh, misschien kijk ik naar iets anders, maar er staat toch echt dat ie /dev/wacom niet kan vinden (dus je core pointing device denk ik).
Dit lijkt mij een kwestie van even in xorg.conf je muis op /dev/psaux (in mijn geval dan) zetten.

Die WW's zijn niet erg (warnings), de EE's moet je op letten (errors)

Hoe zet ik men muis op /dev/psaux ? Het gaat om een draadloze muis van logitech ....

Weet iemand wat er als inlognaam ingesteld wordt tijdens de installatie van ubuntu?
Ik heb het nu voor de tweede keer geinstalleerd maar ik kan niet inloggen.
Tijdens de installatie wordt er wel gevraagd om een wachtwoord en niet om een inlognaam.
Ik heb van alles geprobeerd oa. computernaam ed., maar kom er niet in :'(
