Earth 2140 was de eerste in deze reeks RTS games en kwam uit eind 1997. Het jaar was 2140 AD en ging over de strijd tussen United Civilized States (UCS) en Eurasian Dynasty (ED). Earth 2150 was in juni 2000 een revolutionair spel omdat het een van de eerste (in mijn herinnering de eerste) RTS spellen was die volledig in 3D was, en bovendien de mogelijkheid bood tot tunnelgevechten. Naast de eerder genoemde fractie mengde zich nu ook de Lunar Corporation (LC) in de strijd. The Moon project is in september 2002 verschenen als uitbreiding.

Only a few thousand humans managed to escape from the Earth before its collapse in 2150 A.D. They spent the next few years on the terra forming of the red planet, developing new technologies and building up new civilisations. Somehow each of the three fractions "Eurasian Dynasty", "United Civilised States" and "Lunar Corporation" did this independently and separately from each other - but in the year 2160 something strange happens in this new world. If ED, UCS and LC join forces or continue their old war against each other - is possibly now, up to the player.
Beside the usual venues in the solar system, there are some strange looking locations: planets with moving and reflecting liquid surfaces. And beside the standard RTS - resource acquisition, base building and destruction of enemy bases, the year 2160 will have some adventure inspired tasks for the players.

Units and stuctures
Modular construction:
Most of the units and buildings have a modular construction. A player can construct his own units from a wide assortment of basic parts. This approach allows each player to create his own unique looking army.
Base structures are also created from smaller components, making them very flexible. A player can always construct a base, to fit into to the current terrain and the task at hand. For example - when constructing an LC skyscraper, the player may choose which segment should be placed on which floor. This makes an uncountable number of different buildings possible.
Free Research:
A player can work on as many technologies as he chooses at the same time, depending on his resources (number of research centres, money, power). There are some parts of the research tree, which are unavailable to a player until he gets the starting technology for an item. The starting technology can be found as an alien artefact, bought from an ally or stolen from an enemy.
Virtual agents
A whole new dimension will be added to the game by using virtual agents. Agents are freelancers available for hire who help a player during the game.
Each agent has different abilities (they can help with research, unit commands, increasing mining efficiency, spying out enemies, stealing technology etc.)
Agents can be hired and fired during the game. Hiring agents is done during an auction where different players can make their bids for the agent. This creates an opportunity to economically defeat an opponent by raising the price of the agent he wants to hire.
Each agent remembers his old contracts with the player. The History of old contracts has a strong influence on the price of the agent. A player has to take care of his hired agents otherwise they may not want to work for him in the future.
Agents also have relationships between each other. They can like, dislike, love or hate other agents. Those relationships also have influence on the price of a contract with an agent. For example: it is possible that an agent will work for a player for a really small amount of money because an opponent has hired the agent he hates the most.
Not all agents are available all the time. If an agent is under contract to one player, he or she will not be available for the others.
Resource Management
There are three resource types, Water, metals, and silicium, each faction has access to two only of these. Metals and silicium can be mined, metal recycled and water is extracted from the planet in any one of its physical forms. There can be up to seven forms of resource type to be exploited.
There is one exception to the amount of resource available to the contesting parties and that is with the alien race that can utilize all types.
The availability and placement of resources can create an interesting strategic situation. When almost all resources have been exhausted from the map, there will always be some small reserves remaining somewhere near an enemy base, because he has not used them, could not use them, or cannot collect them. The resulting situation could end in one of many ways. How things turn out though, is very much up to the player or players. Bron

![]() | LC (Lunar Corporation) - This peace loving Matriarchal society has to fight to find a new base and home after the destruction of the Earth. LC buildings are built one on top of the other, similar to a skyscraper, but with one big difference. They have the ability to defy all the laws of gravity to move quickly to a new location. |
![]() | UCS (United Civilized States) - these machines evolved from the UCS battle machines. During the long flight to Mars, the computer decided to kill all human survivors and then initiated a plan to conquer the Solar system with its own mechanical army. |
