Waarom zou je de tanks en BMP's van competitieve bepantsering voorzien? Als het slechts moet dienen om wat survivors na het nuken omver te tikken. Ze hadden niet gedacht dat ze ooit tegen volledige eenheden moesten vechten. Alleen maar de restjes van eenheden wegvagen.

De Sovjets hadden gepland om nog meer tactical nukes te kunnen smijten dan in World in Conflict. Gewoon zomaar spammen om alle vakjes op de landkaart weg te vegen. Rolling barrage is hoe ze in WOI de artilleriegranaten meter per meter naar de vijand laten opschuiven.

The rolling barrage fire is a moving wall of artillery fire (огневой вал) which destroys the enemy and acts as a defensive curtain for the land assault that follows behind. Soviets troops had to advance covered by the nuclear rolling barrage fire. Thus they were designed specifically to advance through the nuclear wasteland. Soviet troops had to advance through the nuclear wasteland with obliterated infrastructure. Thus vehicles had to bear a lot of radiation protection and little armour. There would be not much resistance in a nuclear wasteland anyway

Het Westen investeerde in wapensystemen of conversies voor conventionele oorlog. De Russen zitten nog met hun oude spul ontworpen voor een andere type oorlog waar de vijand na het nuken nauwelijks nog slagkracht heeft.

Daarom zijn er last minute aanpassingen zoals cope cages. De tanks worden ingezet in een type oorlog waarvoor het niet gemaakt is.

De T-62 is (in Rusland) in 1975 in de mottenballen gegaan, de leopard 1 is tot en met de jaren 80 nog van upgrades voorzien.
Wat mij het meest verbaasd is die rare constructie van een jaren 50 BMP met scheepsgeschut erop. Lijkt me niet dat die 2x25mm afstandsbestuurbaar zijn, dus moet er een Rus in die open "koepel" zitten tijdens gebruik.
