Momenteel wordt ook gewerkt aan een applicatie voor Android-telefoons, waardoor het zelf-inchecken in het openbaar vervoer subtieler wordt.

Je moet altijd nog een kaartlezer hebben. Om die aan je telefoon te koppelen moet je telefoon als usb-host dienen, wat (nog) niet kan. Of zie ik iets over het hoofd?

Wat ik me wel kan voorstellen is een applicatie die o.b.v. je locatie een reispatroon kan genereren (in- en uitstapplaatsen o.i.d.) die je vervolgens kunt exporteren en kunt gebruiken om als in- en uitcheckpunten op je ov-chipkaart te zetten. Maar vooralsnog zie ik hier het nut niet van in.

Dus: wat moet ik me voorstellen bij een ov-chiphack op Android?

Geen idee. Er is nog niet veel over bekend. Of hij naapt alleen het incheck-geluidje na (boring) of het gaat mogelijk ook wat spannends doen op NFC gebied. Zo heeft de Nexus S al een NFC-chip aanboord.

HTC komt anders ook met een dualcore-telefoon: nieuws: 'HTC brengt in voorjaar Android-smartphone met dualcore-cpu uit'. De genoemde processor heeft twee Scorpion-cores die vergelijkbaar zouden zijn met de Cortex A9-cores in de Tegra 2. Ik denk dat HTC qua "power" in ieder geval niet achter wil blijven bij de rest; ik neem aan dat zodra het Qualcomm-spul niet meer voldoet, ze wel overstappen, naar Nvidia bijvoorbeeld, of anderen, zoals de Orion- of OMAP-soc.

Komen er binnenkort ook nog 3.7" toestellen uit met een Tegra2 of zijn het alleen 4"+ toestellen? Ik vind 3.7" echt de max voor normaal meenemen en fijn vasthouden.
De Desire wordt binnenkort ingehaald door al het Tegra-geweld, en de DesireZ vind ik te zwaar/lomp.

Het is denk ik vooral belangrijk voor de game-industrie, waar ze nu ook de Quake-engine gebruiken in hun spellen. Mijn Desire HD heb ik momenteel underclocked, want hij heeft die 1 GHz simpelweg niet nodig om soepel te draaien.

Pff vermoeiend. Als er 1 ding is dat ik haat bij alle nieuwe smartphones dan zijn het al die touch-sensitive knoppen. Ik wil gewoon een paar fysieke knoppen houden zodat ik ook nog enkele handelingen kan doen zonder naar mijn telefoon te kijken of bang te zijn de verkeerde knop aan te raken...

In an interview with Phone Scoop, Google Android Engineering Director Dave Burke outlined a few things to expect from the new "I" version of Android that will come after Honeycomb. Besides merging phone and tablet versions, as announced yesterday, the new version will likely bring the "action bar" at the top of the screen on tablets, to phones as well. The action bar provides contextual, app-specific buttons to act on whatever is on the screen at the moment, replacing the "press and hold" gesture, which will be phased out except for drag-and-drop operations. The "system bar" - at the bottom of the screen on tablets - may not come to phones, however. The new "Hologram" visual style of Honeycomb will come to phones, as will the new multi-tasking app switcher that shows a small view of each app running.

Iemand die weet hoe dit op Android zit? Lijkt me van niet maar toch. De Apple Appstore staat wel vrije software toe.

De android market puilt uit van de os-software. Dit lijkt me dus duidelijk anders. Is dit overigens iets nieuws van ms? Want ik had het niet eerder gezien.

Microsoft zet helemaal geen ban op vrije software / Open Source. Microsoft zet een ban op alles dat is aangeraakt door de GPL (en vrije software / Open Source != GPL, er zijn nog veel meer OSS-licenties!). Je kan dus nog gerust Open Source-programma's maken voor Windows Phone 7 (of je dat ook echt wil met alle andere beperkingen die er nog bij komen is een tweede ).

Apple heeft dezelfde beperking en toch zijn er genoeg Open Source libraries en programma's in de App Store te vinden, dus dit is vooral storm in een glas water en voor een groot deel de bekende sensatielust.

Elke licentie die verplicht dat de software ook als source moet worden verspreid wordt niet toegelaten, lijkt me dat veel, als het al niet alles is, open source die als voorwaarde heeft.

Uit m'n hoofd zijn BSD, Apache, MIT en de zlib/libpng-licenties allemaal vrij van zulke zaken en mag je die allemaal gebruiken (en die worden dan ook heel veel gebruikt voor vrije software).

Zoals je in MS' overeenkomst hierboven kan lezen gaat het vooral om de licenties die andere software erbij betrekken. Als je een programma vrijgeeft onder de GPL, dan moet alles GPL zijn, zelfs wanneer een onderdeel apart genomen een BSD is. Dit virale onderdeel van zulke licenties zijn ze bang voor.

Maar nogmaals, veel OSS-licenties hebben dat virale helemaal niet. De wereld van de vrije software bestaat niet alleen uit GPL-varianten (en gelukkig maar!).

Tja, leuk en aardig, maar het is hier ook al te merken aan het gebrek aan topics over alle 3 de modellen die HTC heewft aangekondigd, er zit niemand op te wachten. Zit nog steeds in dubio om nu voor 1 van de dualcores te gaan, of op de lichting van HTC voor zomer/najaar te wachten. Deze generatie heeft HTC de slag verloren omdat ze qualcomm trouw blijven.

Een paar maanden? De HD was pas in oktober te krijgen. Das toch gewoon een half jaar. Ik vrees dat we de volgende lichting ook pas weer in de herfst kunnen verwachten. Daar ga ik iig niet op wachten.

Ook zoiets wat ik niet snap idd, geen scroll-ding. Ik gebruik die dagelijks, zo niet elke keer als ik de telefoon gebruik. Dat mis ik ook enorm op mijn iPad, en is voor mij dé reden om geen iPad 2 of iPhone aan te schaffen.

Als de tekstvoorspelling weer eens faalt, in 4 op de 10 gevallen, scroll ik ff terug en verwijder of voeg toe wat er niet klopt.
Als ik precies door opties wil scrollen, of toch met 1 hand mijn telefoon wil bedienen, dan werkt een scrollpad veel fijner.

Ik gebruik op dit moment een Nexus One met Trackball en het is dat dat ding licht geeft wanneer ik een sms krijg of dergelijke, anders had ik em er al graag af gehad. Gebruik hem nooit en alle programma's hebben wel een vervangende functie zodat je de Trackball niet hoeft te gebruiken.

Today Adobe released an update for its Flash Player 10.2 for Android. Besides the regular bug fixes and security enhancements, it brings some optimizations for Android 3.1. Say what? It's the first time we hear of Android 3.1 and it's obviously under way.

Adobe has surely made Google angry with this because shortly after that the description changed to "an upcoming release of Android 3". It's too late though, because the news is in the air already.

There was no doubt an update for the tablet-oriented Android Honeycomb is on the way, but this is the first confirmation we got.


The Google I/O conference starts on 10 May and it's a fair guess that the next Android announcement will happen there.
As far as the Flash update itself, it will bring hardware video acceleration and enhanced browser integration to Android 3.1. That way the tablet users will finally be able to play 720p Flash videos within the browser.
We already caught a few phones able to do so - the Samsung Galaxy S II, the Motorola Atrix 4G and the HTC Desire S (with a single-core processor).

Now we sit back and wait for 10 May to see what Google will come up with.

Digitimes: Zero new devices from Apple, RIM, Nokia to help Android gain market share this summer

One of Android’s main advantages is volume. Not a week goes by that we don’t hear about some new Android device that’s coming out in the near future. It’s this nonstop river of Android phones that has catapulted the platform to the number one spot worldwide. As someone who keeps an eye on this avalanche of new devices, it’s a little overwhelming at times.

But you know who dislikes this constant release of new Android devices even more? RIM, Nokia and Apple. Especially since none of them will be announcing any new phones for at least three months. That’s an eternity in the tech world. Even more so in the Android world, where it takes just a few weeks for phones to become obsolete.

Apple broke the tradition at this year’s WWDC conference, and didn’t announce a new iPhone. It is now believed the company will release the “magical” device this Fall, along with iOS 5. Then there’s Nokia, which is still releasing Symbian phones that no one is buying and won’t have a Windows Phone device ready until the Christmas season. Lastly, RIM has delayed the release of its Bold 9900/9930 until September.

In other words, Android has the next three months all to itself. Today’s Sprint-Motorola lovefest brought the release of two new high-end Android devices. Right around the corner, we have Sprint’s EVO 3D and T-Mobile’s Sensation 4G and Exhibit 4G. And that’s just what’s coming out this month.

By the time the other companies get their acts together and release new devices this Fall, Google and co. will be getting ready to launch the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered, Tegra 3-packing Nexus 3. Also known as the device that’ll make all other phones look like a telegraph. Good luck, RIM, Nokia and Apple.

Gisteren de update GB 2.3.3. via de air binnen gekregen. Vlotjes, met 10 min was ik hem rijker en hoe wonderlijk: er wijzigde niets aan mijn apps en homescreens. Zelfs Go launcher Ex met mijn 22 homescreens waren geheel intact. Overigens zoals al aangekondigd was GEEN Sense 3.0 update. De huidige versie 2.1 blijft gewoon werken.
