a7v & v7700 onstabiel

Ik heb een a7v en een geforce2 v7700. Ik gebruik de laatste via 4 in 1 drivers (4.26), directx 8, de laatste asus v7700 drivers gebaseerd op nvidia 6.31 detonator. Bios van het moederbord is 1005a. Alles loopt op agp 4x. In menig 3d spel loopt het zaakje nog wel eens vast. De muis doet het, de rest niet. Of het spel klapt er volledig uit. Nu las ik onderstaand bericht:

The following instructions were provided by Gary Shapiro:

Check your BIOS setup, usually in the Chipset Features Setup, for something called the AGP Driving Value. This value controls the timing of the AGP driver in Windows. The value you place here can make AGP4X stable. This value is a hex value from 00-FF.

In order to place a value here you might need to change another BIOS setup feature called the AGP Driving Control. This should appear with the AGP Driving Value. Set this to MANUAL if not already. The other option is AUTO.

Try setting this value to DA or EA. Try DA for a VIA Apollo Pro 133A motherboard. On a KT133 motherboard you might want to try E7.

Save your options and reboot your machine. Make sure you are running AGP4X and try some 3D games. Where they might have hung or crashed before they should now be running fine. If not, then go back into the BIOS Setup and try another value. I've found that values that end in an 'A' seem to work the best.

Op E7 zetten dus want je hebt een KT133 chipset, de Apollo Pro133 is voor intel socket370.

Heb je wel alle VIA drivers geinstalleerd? Zeker die ervoor zorgen dat AGP 4x goed werkt??

Ik had dit probleem ook met dezelfde configuratie, totdat ik die Via 4x AGP drivers heb geinstaleerd, kijk maar es op www.viatech.com

AGP gebeuren in turbo mode.
Dan moet het toch goed zijn?

Ik heb die drivers gedownload van www.viahardware.com.

Hoe zet ik de apg kaart op 2x. In de bios kan ik niet meer van optimal naar normal met bios 1.005a

Wat ik er wel bij moet vermelden is dat ik niet de asus drivers gebruik, maar de Nvidia drivers..
En inderdaad, na het flashen van mijn A7V met de laatste Bios, kan ook ik niet meer aangeven of ik AGP 2x of AGP 4x wil gebruiken....Altijd doen trouwens, flashen van de meest recente bios!

Heb je wel je v7700 een bios update gegeven.
De kaart die ik kocht had bij het opstarten bios eindigend op 07 staan.
Bij de betadrivers op de asus site staat de versie eindigend op 13.
Ik heb absuluut nergens problemen mee.
Heb bijna dezelfde configuratie dan jij.

Probeer eens in je BIOS de DIMM Interleave setting op DISABLED te zetten.
Ik had ook problemen en waren met bovenstaande setting opgelost.

Iedereen zegt wel dat het Asus bord zo geweldig is maar als je bij de newsforums van Asus gaat lezen kun je zien dat er heel veel mensen zijn die problemen hebben om het bord stabiel te krijgen. En ik heb er helaas ook ervaring mee want ik heb ook zo'n 'geweldig' Asus bord. Ik heb gelukkig hem eindelijk een beetje stabiel gekregen en dat heb ik gedaan volgens een bericht ook gepost op de forums. Ik zal hem ook posten ik hoop dat de gene met een instabiel bord er wat aan hebben. Ik zelf trouwens heb een:

A7V lnstallation Tips.

Air Cooling.
CPU Heat Sink lnstallation.
Make sure the FAN is sucking not blowing on the HS!!! (alpha type cooiers)

Chasis Fan lnstallation.
1 x 80mm fan blowing in installed at bottom front of the case.
1 x 80mm fan blowing out inatalled at top/middie back of the case. (Power Supply unit that have daul fans are nice)

1 found that this wil] reduce the tempature when cpu is idie. Change this is the bios.
Advanced -> Chip Configuration -> Master PCI Read Caching -> "ENABLE"

Which Bios should you use.
1002 - Higher core voltage setting ie: when you set the veore to 1.85v it is actually l.gv This can be heipful in some situations where overcioeking requires the higher voltage.
In my case 1 could not boot into wing81win2k with bios 1003 and 1004a at 900 becuase the voltage was to low (1.85 instead of 1.92).

1003 - 1 found this stabie but didn't give me the higher core voltage 1 needed.

1004a - This raised my cpu temp when idie by 1 Oe-1 Sc degrees. 1 had the following problems after 1 upgraded to this bios.
Outiook Express News - lock ups while looking at pietures in newgroups. lnternet Explorer - random lock ups
Microsoft Media Player - lock ups while playing mp3's (think becuase it has that stupid techno screen in it) CPU temp was way to high when idie 55 C with the previous bios 38 C

1 recommend flashing your bois with 1003 or 1002 until asus releases 1004 final.

Where to get the bios.

Flashing the bios.
Use "C:\Program Files\ASUS\AsusUpdate\Update.exe to instail the file once your uzip it.

Remember after flashing bios.
Enter the bios after the reboot and load setup defaults, then reboot

This fixed my sound blaster live problem. First instail the sound card into pci slot 3.
Make sure @you are using the lastest drivers.
Put the following setting in the BIOS setup menu.
Advanced -> PCI Configuration -> PCI/PNP IRQ Resource Exclusion -> "IRQ 5 Reserved for Legacy Deviee" -> "Yes"

ATA-100 problems
My ide setup is as follows and 1 did not have problems instelling wing8. IBM ATA-1 00 drive on Primary ATA-1 00 channel Asus 40x cdrom on Seconday controler as slave.
1 did have problems instelling win2k the problem was that it couidn't find the hard drive. Win2K requires the promise drivers to be loaded.
When the screen comes up and asks you if there any thirdparty mass storage drivers to be added. You rnust before hand downioad and create the promise driver disk.
Then rnust specify a mass storage controler and put in the promise driver disk.

Other things that 1 should mention. 1 have a Geforce2 card from Asus.

Asus recomends instelling the via-4inl drivers in norrnal mode and not turbo. This means that AGP 1 x and 2x is availabie but not AGP 4x.
Nvidia also say that using sidebanding will cause instability. 1 flashed by card so that it doesn't use sidebanding (SBA) Fastwrites Setting in the bios can also cause instabilty.
Optimal/Normat setting in the bios cän also cause instabilty.

lf you don't have problem with crashing during video games don't touch anything. lf your system is rock stabie in os but crashes in video games try this.

In the BIOS.

change Advanced, -> Optima] -> "NORMAL"
This setting changes AGP to lx when normal and 2x optimal, if you've installed via-4inl driver in turbo this setting changes AGP to 2x when normal and 4x optimal

change Advanced -> Chip Configuration -> AGP Fastwrites -> "DISABLE"

lnstail via 4inl again with "normal" cheeked and not turbo.

lf you have tried all these AGP setting without solving the problem. You more then likily have the same problem as 1. How 1 got rid of it.
1 underciocked the bus speed(1 00) to 95 fbs from the bios.
1 have not tried AGP at 2x or 4x with the FBS at 95 but for now the system is now totaal stabie while playing video games. Though 1 have tried upgrading my bios to 1004a and then 1 start having problems.

Don't know if 1 forgot anything but if you are having as many problems as 1 have had you may appreciatie this.

Temperatures ldie 37C
CPU under Fuil load 56C-58C

seti screensaver average wu time 8 - 8 112 hours

Conclusion
1 am sacrafising perforance for stabilty now. But..
Hopefully the FBS and AGP 4x stabilty will be eventually solved with the via-4inl drivers. But this has not been addressed by the newest ones 4.25a
Hopefully the newer MB bios will allow the higher voltage as in 1002 and also allow diabling the ATA-1 00 promise controller.

FrankGuthrie: niet om het een of het ander, maar dit is echt weer zo'n 'bijdrage' om maar zoveel mogelijk posts op je naam te krijgen. Jammer dat inhoudelijk gesproken niemand er wat aan heeft. Misschien dat je wat meer onderbouwing bij je posts kunt geven of anders wat minder vaak op reply kunt drukken zodat er wat minder overbodige post op dit forum komen.
