sorry dat dit in het engels is maar ik heb het ook al ergens anders gepost en had geen zin het allemaal opnieuw te typen ...

<<Anywayz I have 3 CD-rom drives and 2 HD's which has left me with the problem that i'm 1 IDE connection short ...
So today I've bought an ASUS Ultra66 PCI card with 2 extra IDE connections .
I've installed it , as described in the manual , with the drivers from the supplied floppy .
Seemed to be fine , then rebooted 98se .
Didn't get into windows , it crashed halfway ... well over halfway when it loaded the drivers anyway ...
It boots in safe mode and all i gotto do is remove the card from my device tab list you-know-where . So didn't work :-(
Then I tried ME , installed it , and it worked . Until I rebooted , got a windows protection error when it loaded the drivers ... damn . Same story , safe mode and remove it ...
Si it did work under ME but on startup Windows can't handle the drivers it seems ...
It's in the first PCI slot , not sharing IRQ's (mobo is an A7V), i've swapped it into pretty much all my PCI slots but same story each time .
So the funny part is that it works under ME , I just can't boot it with the card installed ...
In 98se it doesn't work at all though .

When I boot up I get some info from the card on my screen (searching primary etc etc etc)
and at the end of that i also get the message "Bios is disabled" .
I've tried all sorts of alt+ and ctrl+ keys but nothing happens ... also in my manual there's nothing about any BIOS just how to install the card ...
i've rang the shop they didn't have any real answers either , if I can't get it to work i'll take it down there and have them check it out ...

But anyway I really would appreciate any suggestions you guys might have because I like repairing things on my own ...
Maybe the card is faulty but it seems unlikely ... after all apart from Windows not booting it seems to be working fine ...

and my Duron's on 101 MHz FSB so the PCI bus speeds are not really out of spec (tried it at 100 too anyway)

so thanks in advance ...
