Gaat het niet linksom, dan maar rechtsom proberen (bij ESS, de 'bron') type chipset e.d. zijn wel meegestuurd, maar staan in een tabelletje in de mail naar ESS, die heb ik er hier niet bijgeplakt:
Hello,
This is not a PC related question, but a consumer product question. I have bought a ESS based philips dvd/divx player. I (and a LOT of other people) am happy with the player, but a few bugs still are present.
We have adressed philips about these problems, but they don't seem to care about this product anymore, leaving us with an unfinished product.
Can you tell us if it is possible that the firmware for this chipset will ever be released to the public? And more in general, who is making changes to the firmware, is it the manufacurer of the product, or is it ESS?
With Regards,

Sorry, we don't have such firmware to share with. Please contact your vendor for the further assistance. Thanks! Best regards,

Hello,
Like I said before, the vendor (philps) gives about the same kind of answers as you do right now. I still don’t know anything more than I did before your 'answer'. I'm talking about the firmware (ESS software) of this machine.
I am surprised that you and as well Philips think that you are in a position to treat customers like you do! If you put a little more effort in the matter, the same product can be sold many times over the numbers they do now. Next time I and the lot I spoke of before won't buy a philips/ESS based product but something like mediatec or sigma designs.
Still... With Regards,
