IRQ ??

BSOD: "IRQ not less or equal"

Help for the IRQ Impaired

Utilities
If you don't want to deal with the intricacies of your PC's IRQs, DMAs, and memory maps, but still want to keep your system in tip-top shape, First Aid 98 is the utility package for you. We tested the shipping product.
Like its chief competitors, Helix Nuts & Bolts (see "Move Over, Norton, Enter Nuts & Bolts," Registry, June 1997) and Norton Utilities 3.0 for Windows 95, First Aid provides an extensive list of services, including software-and-hardware-conflict resolution and recovery from unsatisfactory software upgrades. But First Aid's chief strength lies in its simplicity and ease of use. CyberMedia took the complexity out of the utility, making it an ideal option for the more advanced user with little time to devote to system maintenance. Help screens were informative; some even included .AVI clips that guided us through standard maintenance items like cleaning your printer or installing a new graphics board.
First Aid 98's interface resembles an actual desktop covered by a PC and peripherals. We clicked on the printer, for example, and First Aid 98 performed a check to determine whether the equipment and drivers were properly installed and working. It also provided us with a Check-up Report that lists any current or potential problems. Click on any entry and you get information about the problem and the choice to fix it manually or automatically. When we chose the manual option, First Aid 98 presented us with an advisor that helped us work through the solution.
First Aid does an excellent job of simplifying the complex task of PC maintenance. While it offers none of the acceleration capabilities of the other utilities we reviewed this month, it offers diagnostics for things like speakers and sound cards, which neither Helix's Nuts & Bolts nor Symantec's Norton Utilities provides. More-experienced users should opt for Norton Utilities 3.0 for Windows 95, which gives you more detail about your system's problems and more control over how you resolve them.
Click and Go: First Aid 98's user interface is intuitive and easy to use. Clicking on any of the pieces of hardware on the desktop initiates an analysis of that component.

BSOD: "IRQ not less or equal"

Vroeger was alles beter...
