Dear sir/madam,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Please check the following in order to solve your problem:
Install the new Firmware version 1.5 (flash utility+file) available for
free via our helpdesk. In the Netherlands, please call 0800-0232011 and
we will sent you the firmware as soon as possible for free by post.
******IDE settings******
- primary master: harddisk
- primary slave: CD-ROM/DVD-ROM
- secondary master: your Philips CD-RW drive
- secondary slave: any other IDE device
******BIOS settings******
-disable UDMA in the BIOS for the channel you attach the recorder to
-lower stepwise the PIO mode for the recorder in the BIOS until
reaching optimum performance/stability
-increase the wait states on the pci-bus in the BIOS until
reaching optimum performance/stability
-In some cases using old ATA harddisk running invalid ATA protocols the
only solution is to remove the harddisk and replace for a newer model in
order to obtain a stable system.
******in Win95/98 device manager******
-IMPORTANT: Do not use busmaster drivers others than the original
Win95/98 ones
If there are any other busmaster drivers than the standard "standard
dual pci-ide busmater drivers,
install these then.
-Set the "Disconnect" feature to "ON" (for all cd roms in the system)
-Set "Sync Data Transfer" to "OFF"
-Do not enable "DMA"
******in Win95/98 performance settings******
-Change "Typical Role of this machine" to Network Server. This
re-prioritizes the hard drive so that it is given priority
over other hardware and software functions
-Disable the read ahead caching of the cd-rom readers
-Disable the read ahead caching of the hard disk
-Set the virtual memory settings from 0 (minimum) to 1.5 times
the amount of memory installed in your system (maximum)
******DOS-configuration******
-Do not load the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files on boot up
(rename them), no Network drivers, no TSRs, anti-virus programs,
or screen savers.
After these changes, the recorder should be able to record at 8 speed
onto all CD-R disks.
Kind regards,
V.I. Pfeil
