Dear Edgar,
thank you for your e-mail.
The Problem is in deed the Adaptec controller. The Promise controller is accept as SCSI device in the BIOS.
the same also for the Adaptec controller. But the BIOS can't switch between these contoller.
So it is your choice.. Maybe Adaptec have a solution.
kind regards
mit freundlichem Gruß

Betreff: mainboard GA-7VRXP problem
Dear sir, madam,
Recently I have bought a Gigabyte motherboard, model GA-7VRXP. I must say I am very pleased with the product as it is the most stable I've had in times and the price/quality ratio is pretty neat.
Nevertheless I have a small, but very annoying, problem with the board.
In my current configuration (see below) the bios post of the onboard Promise 'Lite' controller does not appear during the boot process (although Enabled as RAID in BIOS etc). Because of that I am not able to build e.g. maintain an array.
After some error guessing I found out that the bios post of the Promise controller o
nly does appear when I remove my Adaptec 29160 SCSI-controller from it's PCI-slot. I also tried using other PCI-slots for the Adaptec card, but that didn't resolve the problem. So in my opinion the Adaptec and Promise controller are conflicting. I've noticed that both controllers are using the same I/O adress (somewhere around D800, I believe).
Considering the above I kindly ask you if there might be a solution (bios update?) for this problem. Maybe there's a good workaround (if it's already a known bug) or even better, a (upcoming) resolve. As you might guess it's not very efficient to remove the Adaptec SCSI-controller every time I need to access the Promise bios.
Thank you in advance for your reaction.
With kind regards,
Edgar
