***The way I understand it:
Your TB2 Quantum 4848 is TB2 but connects to TB3 hub via TB2 to TB3 adapter then, the TB3 hub negotiates with the PCIe TB4 on your computer. Even if technically your MB doesn’t support direct TB2 connection, it should be ok with all the things between.
And no, I don’t think a TB2 PCIe card would connect to the TB4 header on your MB…

de eerdere reactie van Presonus:
Thunderbolt 4 is not currently supported. We would recommend using a motherboard that is Thunderbolt 3 compatible.
There is a workaround for using a Thunderbolt 2 interface with a Thunderbolt 4 motherboard. Please see the following article for more details.

Best regards,
De vragen die daarna ik naar Presonus heb gestuurd, alhoewel ik betwijfel of ze hier antwoord op hebben.
As far as I know now:
- My ordered motherboard only supports TB4 pci card , as i've read no TB3 pci card compatability, so TB4 = the only option
- My CPU is 12th gen (newest intel i7 processor)
My options as far as I know:
1) use the TB 2 to 3 workaround as mentioned in the link you've sent me using the HUB and TB 2 to 3 converter.
2) using an option provided by another user on Gearspace but ends up converting thunderbolt to USB3.1
https://gearspace.com/boa...hp?p=15765923&postcount=4
https://www.startech.com/en-nl/cards-adapters/tb33a1c
I would prefer using option 1 because option 2 uses USB3.1 which is lower bandwith.
Since I have alot of analog synthesizers my original plan was tochain / link more 4848's next to eachother in the future. Like a maximum of 4 units.
My questions:
- Is option 1 still working on the newest intel 12th gen processors as it has been tested on 11th gen?
- Will these options have a noticeable negative effect on latency especially when running multiple 4848's over one hub?
- How many 4848's can I run chained to eachother over one hub? Or do I need to buy a hub and tb 2 to 3 converter for each unit that I add in the future?
- Which thunderbolt4 pci card is suggested? Any is possible, like this Asus TB4?

Antwoord Presonus:
Please understand that the Quantum 4848 is a ThunderBolt 2 device and that Intel does not officially support these devices on ThunderBolt 4 connections. The workaround suggested in the article is a suggestion only and not qualified, certified or otherwise supported through product development. Support cannot offer you any further suggestions or troubleshooting beyond the article we have provided. We apologize for this inconvenience but we can sometimes do very little when the technology industries make changes to specifications in this regard.
ThunderBolt 4 on PC computers do not officially support ThunderBolt 1 and 2 devices.
You may wish to contact Intel for further information.
Please understand that your Quantum 4848 will always be supported on systems that still officially support ThunderBolt 2 devices.

Reactie Dell:
Welcome
As per your first question Thunderbolt 4 has backward compatibilities
Definitely your Presonus 4848 will work
Cal Digit Thunderbolt 4 Hub
Dell K16A Dock
Lacie D2 HDD with 2x TB3 Ports.
Echter zijn deze in Nederland moeilijk te krijgen merk ik, en ook behoorlijk aan de prijs....250,- voor een hub. Lijkt me dat dat anders moet kunnen.
