I think it is possible to unlock the card to a 6970, but it's not a guarantee that the card will be stable at the speeds of a 6970. The point is that the used different memory (lower spec'd) memory on the 6950. The fact that u cant get the GPU stable is a sign that something went wrong and u might reconsider your flashing actions. I presume that you saved the old bios before flashing? Put the bios back and start to OC the conventional way instead of flashing to a 6970..
