tja bijna kerst dan zal er misschien wel minder gegraasd worden, ivm met verplichtingen. bij mij blijft de pc gewoon aan dus die graast wel door met een beetje geluk me PS3 ook.

trouwens de tussen stand vandaag bij 3FM serious request is ruim €1.300.000,= mooi bedrag. voor de gene die het volgt.

A version of SETI@home that runs on NVIDIA graphics boards using their CUDA computing engine has been released. The CUDA version runs up to 10X faster than the CPU version. NVIDIA has put out a press release about the SETI@home CUDA client and about GPU Grid. See directions for getting started.

Moet ik nu perse astropulse gaan gebruiken of wordt automatisch de GPU gebruikt ?

Ik dacht ergens gelezen te hebben dat CUDA los staat van je CPU-graas-instellingen. Dus de GPU doet dan astropulse, de CPU doet "gewoon seti". Uiteraard afhankelijk van beschikbaarheid van het werk. Voor optimized-Astropulse moet je die optimized app tweaken om werk te krijgen, toch?

Ik ga nog even zoeken. Zelf kan ik 't niet testen, heb een 7800-kaart.

Most computers are equipped with a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) that handles their graphical output, including the 3-D animated graphics used in computer games. The computing power of GPUs has increased rapidly, and they are now often much faster than the computer's main processor, or CPU.

NVIDIA (a leading GPU manufacturer) has developed a system called CUDA that uses GPUs for scientific computing. With NVIDIA's assistance, we've developed a version of SETI@home that runs on NVIDIA GPUs using CUDA. This version runs from 2X to 10X faster than the CPU-only version. We urge SETI@home participants to use it if possible. Just follow these instructions:

1) Check whether your computer has a CUDA-capable GPU

CUDA programs work on most newer NVIDIA GPUs. To find out if your GPU is compatible:
Identify the model name of your GPU. On Windows, right-click on your desktop, and select Properties / Settings / Advanced / Adapter. Note the Adapter Type and Memory Size.
Check NVIDIA's list of CUDA-enabled products. If your GPU is listed here and has at least 256MB of RAM, it's compatible.
2) Get the latest BOINC software

Download and install version 6.4.5 or later of the BOINC software.

Protected Application Execution mode is incompatible with CUDA, so be sure to install BOINC with the default options.
3) Get the latest NVIDIA driver

Run BOINC, and look at the Messages. If BOINC reports a CUDA device, your current driver is OK. Otherwise download and install the latest driver (a reboot will be required).

You're done! Now start up BOINC, and soon you'll be racking up big credit numbers.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Note that these applications are meant for ADVANCED USERS.

Remember to take into account that these instructions were written for stock AP release. Be sure that you using AP part of app_info.xml downloaded with this opt app release binaries and not sample part that posted on AP advanced users page.

There will be some known issues and warnings to be aware of:

- As mentioned above, you WILL need to edit or create an appropriate app_info.xml file.
- Ensure you choose a build that your CPU/OS will support. Ask for help If you need assistance determining this.
- Ensure Boinc & seti@Home applications are already properly functioning on your machine, read carefully the documentation readmes and installation instructions.
Known issues:
- There is no support for CPUs below SSE capability
- Borderline OC'ers be aware that you may need to back off to maintain stability, the increased throughput of this application will stress all system components more.
- As Always, use these apps AT YOUR OWN RISK.
