[Vista] BSOD oorzaak=Geheugen?

Hallo,

Ik heb recent 2 extra gig overgekocht van een vriend en de 2 geheugenlatjes in mijn pc gestopt.
Nu heb ik 2 keer een Blue Screen of Death gehad en de dumplog zegt het volgende:

Nu ben ik nogal een leek op dat vlak, maar het lijkt me dat ze zeggen dat ik een probleem heb met mijn geheugen. Ik heb een ingebouwde tool van vista het geheugenlaten controleren en mem test heeft test 5 en test 8 beide 8 keer gedraait en de default tests reeds 2 keer gedaan. Ik laat hem nog een nachtje doordraaien maar waarschijnlijk zal er dus nogaltijd staan dat er geen problemen zijn.

Wie heeft dan gelijk? Memtest86+ of de geheugendump?

Je draait memtest bij opstarten computer? Dan scan je heel geheugen.

De meldingen lijken inderdaad op geheugenfout. Memtest even laten draaien met alle mogelijke tests.

Ik laat memtest86+ inderdaad draaien bij het booten.
in totaal nu 14u aan tests gedaan zonder fouten...
Ik begrijp er niks van?
Is er een kans dat memtest de fout niet ontdekt?

Het is natuurlijk wel heel erg toevallig als je problemen krijgt op het moment dat je extra geheugen hebt toegevoegd.. Maar misschien kan je in je bios nog wat met instellingen voor het geheugen spelen, misschien dat de andere modules net iets andere timings gebruiken, of een iets hoger voltage nodig hebben om goed te werken.

Daar kom je ook een dergelijk verhaal tegen, waarbij de voltages verhoogd moesten worden.

De ingebouwde geheugen test van Vista is niet memtest86+ !!! De test van Vista vind zeer veel geheugen problemen niet en ik zou hem nooit gebruiken.

Download gewoon even de echte memtest en laat die een nachtje draaien.

Even voor de duidelijkheid: Ik heb die Vista test enkl de korte versie gedaan en memtest86+ 14 uur laten draaien.
Vandaag ben ik waarschijnlijk te druk bezig om jullie tips te onderzoeken maar zodra ik het heb gedaan laat ik iets weten ;)

Nog even vermelden: Voordat ik die 2 extra gigabytes aan de praat kreeg moest ik in het bios een functie aanzetten met de naam remapping of zo, anders herkende hij maar 3 gigabyte.
Ik heb even gekeken wat everest te vertellen had over mijn geheugen:

Om eerlijk te zijn is dat vrij veel Chinees voor mij maar ik leid eruit af dat ze dezelfde timings hebben.
Tot ik de geheugenlatjes naast elkaar zag dacht ik trouwens dat ze identiek waren. Beide sets werden verkocht als "Kingston 2GB DDR2 (2x1GB) PC5300 667Mhz CL5 Dual Channel Kit (KVR667D2N5K2/2G)"
Ik kan in men bios instellen dat het op 667Mhz moet draaien ipv "auto" is dat iets wat ik moet proberen? Denken jullie nogaltijd dat ik het voltage moet veranderen? Zoja naar wat?
Over instellen van tijd-eigenschappen heb ik niet meteen iets gevonden in het bios maar ik zal nog is kijken.

Ik probeer liever ook niet te riskante dingen, ik heb namelijk liever een werkende computer met 2GB dan een kapotte met 4GB.

Nog even vermelden: Voordat ik die 2 extra gigabytes aan de praat kreeg moest ik in het bios een functie aanzetten met de naam remapping of zo, anders herkende hij maar 3 gigabyte.
Herkende de bios maar 3 GB of Vista?
Indien Vista, kan je deze functie weer uitzetten om te kijken of hij dan wel goed gaat.

Zowel Vista als het BIOS herkenden maar 3 gigabyte voor ik die functie aan had gezet.
Moet ik de functie uitzetten en kijken of hij nog uitvalt? (valt ongeveer 1 keer per dag uit)
Dat betekend dan wel dat ik maar 3 gigabyte kan gebruiken.
Dus 1 geheugenlatje zou dan nutteloos zijn

De remapping functie in het bios uitzetten hielp dus niet. De computer is gecrasht met die functie uit (en dus maar 3 gig werkend).
Ook het manueel instellen van het geheugen op ddr2-667 ipv auto hielp niet.
Welk van de andere mogelijkheden kan ik veilig proberen?
Ik ben meer en meer geneigd die 2 gig er gewoon uit te halen...

Ok ik heb het voltage verhoogt naar 1.9V, we zullen zien of dat helpt, maar ik betwijfel het want ik heb iets heel raar gevonden:
Mijn computer (met windows Vista 64 bit) is verbonden met een beveiligd (WPA) draadloos netwerk.
Nu zijn er mensen naast ons met een onbeveiligd draadloos netwerk, waar ik normaal probleemloos mee kan verbinden.
Zoals reeds gezegd moest ik de remapping functie aanzetten om Vista de 4 gigabyte te laten herkennen (geheugenslot kapot? Hoe kan ik zeker zijn? is het topic over toen ik dat probleem had)
Volgens de "RAM FAQ" (Abbadon in "RAM FAQ") is dat 1 van de voorwaarden opdat 4 gig herkent wordt:

i) 64bits OS
ii) x86 CPU met 64bits instructieset
iii) Chipset met remapping mogelijkheid (Intel 955, 965, 975 of enterprise chipset. Alle AMD chipsets die AMD64 cpu's ondersteunen)
iv) BIOS met remapping functie (staat default uit, dus wel aanzetten)
v) 4GB geheugen installeren

Het hele rare is dat met die functie aan ik NIET meer kan internetten via het draadloos netwerk van de buren.
Verbinden met het netwerk lukt maar Vista denkt dat het netwerk niet verbonden is met het internet...

De computer heeft ook windows xp 32 bit (dualboot) en daarmee kan ik wel verbinden met de remapping functie aan (waarschijnlijk zal die functie geen invloed hebben in xp omdat die toch niet meer dan 3 gig kan herkennen)

Ik zou denken dat zowel de BSOD's als het niet kunnen connecteren met het netwerk van de buren door hetzelfde probleem worden veroorzaakt maar dat lijkt niet te kloppen want de remapping functie uitzetten verhelpt het probleem met het verbinden met het netwerk van de buren maar de PC crasht nogaltijd...
Ik raak er echt niet meer aan uit....
Ik ga kijken of de PC nu nog crasht (met geheugen op 1.9V) waarschijnlijk zal hij wel crashen. Dan ga ik controleren of hij ook crasht in windows xp.
Heeft er iemand nog mogelijke oplossingen voor deze heel bizarre fenomenen???

Precies.

Wellicht gebruikt dat ding een driver die niet goed omgaat met 4GB, of zorgt de kaart zelf voor een onvoordelige indeling van de beschikbare geheugenranges.
(elk PCI device claimt een stuk geheugen namelijk).

Bedankt voor de tip.
Ik heb voorlopig het volgende gedaan:
De PCI kaart eruit gehaald en de pc opgestart zonder. Dan een usb wifi ding van sweex geinstalleerd en daarmee kan ik dus wel op het netwerk van de buren.
Nu ben ik benieuwd of de crashes uitblijven.
Indien er morgenavond nog geen crashes zijn gebeurd besluit ik dat de driver van de Linksys WMP54G v4.1 de oorzaak is van de crashes.
Wel heel irritant, ik had die kaart speciaal gekocht omdat ik graag een draadloze netwerkkaart wou hebben die werkte op Vista 64bit en ik dacht dat een kwaliteitsmerk als linksys zeker wel drivers zou maken daarvoor. Vista bestaat nu al lang en het is er nogaltijd niet...terwijl sweex dat wel kan...
Ik gebruik rare truckjes met Ralink drivers om dat ding aan de praat te krijgen.
Nu ben ik benieuwd als ik morgen de linksys kaart er weer in steek het probleem opgelost zal zijn of dat ik moet wachten tot linksys ooit 64bit drivers uitbrengt...

PS: De PC crashte ook met geheugen op 1.9 Volt

Ik had inderdaad ook een Linksys kaartje gekocht omdat ik daarvan verwachtte dat die zou werken onder 64-bits Vista, maar niets is minder waar ja :/ Bij mij werkt een SMC kaart die de helft kost nu prima.

Met de Sweex kaart crasht de PC niet, ik heb de linksys pci kaart er weer ingestoken en kan daarmee nogaltijd niet op het onbeveiligde netwerk van de buren, waarschijnlijk zal de pc weer crashen met deze kaart.

Morgen zal ik proberen te kijken of ralink nieuwere drivers heeft gemaakt (ook al zijn die niet bedoelt voor mijn kaart).

Hebben jullie nog andere suggesties?
Indien niks lukt kan ik dus kiezen tussen een vista 64 bit draadloze netwerk kaart te gebruiken of 2 gigabyte ram te gebruiken ipv 4.
Heeft er iemand een vermoeden of 3 gigabyte ram problemen zou opleveren of niet?

Dat is dus 1 van de mogelijkheden:

Maar ik verkies die van linksys te gebruiken omdat daar een serieuze antenne op zit en bovendien hoort de Sweex kaart bij de laptop. Het is lastig om altijd te moeten verwisselen.

Ik heb via allerlei truckjes nieuwere ralink drivers geinstalleerd op mijn linksys kaart.
Ik kan nu verbinden met het netwerk van de buren. Hopelijk blijven ook de crashes uit, anders moet ik alsnog de sweex gebruiken.
