De stats van morgen/vandaag beloven "insane" veel!

* Bubbles is momenteel voor de lol eens begonnen met DPAD te testen. Draai het hier op een C2D E6300 die ongeveer 8/5 aanstaat in de week. Enig idee wat voor een output dat kan genereren? De DPC-wiki is namelijk zeer kort hierover. Tevens worden daarin een paar monitoring tooltjes genoemd, maar zijn er geen downloadlocaties (meer) gegeven. Iemand die daar wat licht op kan werpen?

edit: nog wel meer interessante dingetjes, maar dan van de stats: een aantal van de linkjes onderaan geven een 404, en waarom wordt er naar 17orBust verwezen bij DPAD news?

je hebt de Muon Result Viewer (linkje http://www.v8.franken.de/Muon/MRV.htm) of MuonCockpit (http://www.v8.franken.de/Muon/MC.htm). Om te kijken hoeveel DPAD punten je genereert.

How to Use:

How do I use the Muon1Bench.exe program? Put the program in your Muon1 directory (same place as muon1.exe) and simply start and leave it running while Muon1 is working. It will produce a file BenchCSV.log which has three columns: one logging the time in seconds, the second showing the number of new Mpts Muon1 has produced and the third showing a running estimate of the speed in units of kpts/sec (1000 kpts = 1 Mpts). Once you've run it for a day or so (enough for the estimate to be stable), post your results to the benchmarking thread in the forum.
On multi-core machines you can either start one client with auto threads (this is the simplest method) and run the benchmark program alongside for a couple of days. Or you can create as many Muon1 directories as you have cores, each set to 1 thread with their own copy of the benchmark program and add the resulting numbers together. This ends up being slightly faster in the present version (v4.43d) of Muon1 as running single-threaded simulations in parallel leaves fewer spare CPU cycles than running a single (faster) multi-threaded simulation.

The program does this itself! It may ask you to specify a username to begin with, or inform you periodically if there is a new version of the software available from the website. The screen on graphical version may go blank for a few seconds while it attempts to send results, but after that should carry on normally. The program can detect if you are connected to the internet, so if it fails to send the results file, it will try again the next time it finishes one.
If you do not want the program to upload results automatically, use config.txt to specify this, and run the file "manualsend.bat" when you have accumulated more than 100K (eigenlijk 10K is ook genoeg) of results (or when you wish to upgrade to a new version and submit remaining results).

Kort samengevat hij stuurt automatisch zijn resultaten in bij 100K result.txt file of je kunt het handmatig doen met >10K result.txt file. (manualsend.bat )

Voor spaarstand:

run config_nonet.bat wat automatisch alles op offline mode zet en run config_net.bat om weer in online mode te komen

Begrijp ik hier goed uit dat het sneller is om 2 clients singlethreaded te laten lopen dan 1 client multithreaded? Over wat voor een verschil praten we dan eigenlijk?

En is het eigenlijk ook ergens in te stellen dat hij automatisch sneller flushed (bijvoorbeeld bij 10k logfile) of kan dat alleen handmatig?

Wat ik weet uit eigen ervaring zijn twee clients singlethreaded sneller. Ik weet niet precies hoeveel sneller maar dacht toch richting enkele procenten. (2 losse clients zitten rond 50/50 (in de taskmanager) terwijl eentje multithreaded zo rond de 95 blijft schommelen om je systeem niet te zwaar lastig te vallen.

punt 2: weet ik eigenlijk niet nooit uitgezocht.

Interessant. Als ik naar mijn Task Manager kijk, zie ik dat muon1.exe het grootste deel van de tijd ergens ronde de 98% cpu belasting trekt. Soms een 'drop' naar beneden van 94 of 96% en met enige regelmaat 97%. Af en toe ook netjes 99%. Wat me echter meer opvalt is dat de client op een normale prioriteit loopt, terwijl ik in de client had opgegeven dat ie low mocht zijn. Of geldt die instelling alleen voor als je de background variant hebt opgestart? Ik draai momenteel namelijk in cmdline.

lijkt me aan background running te zien alleen dus ook daarvoor te werken

The file config.txt allows you to change the resolution that the graphical version runs at, and the priority level that the background version uses (where "Background" is the lowest), and various other options.

Single vs multi thread: het is dus echt net een/twee procenten winst (wat natuurlijk over een langere periode veel is )
en de 100k autosend heeft te maken met serverload.

I believe the results file has to be at least 10 kb before it will be successfully sent; otherwise, you get a small popup window that says something along the lines of "This file is too small to be sent, sending too many small results files will overload the server."

Als ik even mijn eigen T5500 (2*1,66GHz) extrapoleer, dan kom ik op ongeveer 1,1 Mpts per uur uit. Dus reken op 45 Mpts per 40 uur.

Overigens blijkt tegenwoordig het multithreaded draaien van slechts 1 client een hogere output te geven dan 2 losse. Je cpu wordt inderdaad maar gemiddeld zo'n 97-98% belast, maar hij werkt schijnbaar efficienter. Ik heb eerst ook altijd 2 clients gedraaid, maar toen las ik op het forum van dpad dat multithreaded toch iets beter is. Het verschil is overigens redelijk klein, maar het is sowieso makkelijker in te stellen dan losse clients.

Seeing as autothreading is so much better now & 1 client is fastest then maybe you want to just chop that lot out? unless their are still people running v4.43x? ,in which case you could just add something like 'However with the present version v4.44d, a single client is now the fastest method'.
(unless you're waiting on more results to confirm that?).

Right now it looks like the multithreaded single-client gives the most Mpts even though it's technically slightly slower than multiple single clients. However there's a bit of an advantage from a single client of 3.8x the speed (in the case of a quad core) because it can evolve faster than if the results were in 4 separate pools.

conclusie: 1 client is sneller en makkelijker ;-) (gebaseerd of bovenstaande quotes)

Ik was eigenlijk van plan precies 21MJ te flushen op mijn verjaardag maargoed dat ik dat niet gedaan heb want ik kwam niet eens aan de 21MJ terwijl mijn eigen results counters het op 25MJ hadden geschat...

Ik hoop dat we onze 1ste plek kunnen behouden anders zal ik alsnog hulp inroepen en inschakelen natuurlijk

Precies.. de link naar het plaatje is overal gelijk, ik update alleen het plaatje.
Als je op dpad.qik.nl naar de betreffende datum kijkt dan wordt wel de juiste grafiek gegenereerd.

Spijtig, maarja het zat er aan te komen. Wellicht komt op die ene dag nog een lekkere impuls voor DPC? Maarja eigenlijk moet de produktie gewoon flink omhoog. 2M daily is niet niks!

User toevoegen werkt iig al ondanks dat het nog niet helemaal klaar is (noem het beta zoals G ).
PS misschien een idee om aan te laten geven wat we minimaal gaan flushen (minimaal als in 50% van wat je werkelijk gaat doen?)
