[SuSe] Resolutie veranderen

Ik ben weer eventjes met linux bezig, heb ditmaal SuSe 10.2 op mijn school laptop geïnstalleerd.

Leuk en aardig allemaal alleen krijg ik de resolutie niet goed, als ik via YaST in X11 kijk dan staat er wel 1280x800 maar als ik via personal settings kijk dan kan ik alleen kiezen uit 1024x768. Wat is hier precies aan de hand?

Nu ben ik een beginner met linux dus niet te veel moeilijke termen alsjeblieft, ik kan terminal openen etc. maar ik ken nauwelijks commando's.

Het gaat over een HP Compaq nc2400 met een Intel 950 GMA videokaart (onboard), nu las ik op de Intel driver site dat deze bij alle nieuwe distro's al was ingebakken dus dat ik niets hoefte te veranderen qua drivers.

Ik zie dit probleem ook op mijn laptop. Wat het probleem waarschijnlijk is, is dat de resolutie 1280x800 geen standaard resolutie is en de bios deze niet in zijn lijst heeft staan, maar 1024x768 wel. Bij mijn laptop is het programma 915resolution daar de oplossing voor, daar kun je deze roluties in definieren en dan kunnen deze door X11 goed opgepikt worden.

Alleen is de resolutie nog steeds niet veranderd en kan ik niets aanpassen in my settings. Erg vreemd allemaal.

Ben een trouwe Windows gebruiker, na een paar keer Linux geprobeerd te hebben ben ik nu definitief overgestapt. Is dus heel erg wennen voor mij, vandaar dat ik voor jullie ogenschijnlijke makkelijke commando's, dingen (nog) niet kan

In het laatste gedeelte staat Identifier "Screen[0]", bij my personal settings staat echter screen 1. Zou dit misschien iets zijn? Hoe verander ik dat?

Edit\ Kan ik niet iemand van got inhuren om dat voor mij te doen , tegen vergoeding uiteraard want ik wist niet dat het zo ingewikkeld zou zijn.

Probleem is dus dat de Xconf.org de resolutie wel goed heeft alleen Gnome niet

Wat geeft je X server log (te vinden in /var/log/xorg.0.log oid, nu ff geen pc bij de hand om dat te checken)? Daarin staat meestal aangegeven waarom hij een bepaalde resolutie niet pakt. Bij mij wat het probleem dat ik een modus had vervangen die blijkbaar niet werkte, toen ik een andere modus verving werkte het wel.

Het lijkt op een probleem dat ik ook heb sinds suse 10.3 en tot heden niet heb weten op te lossen.

Ik heb het eindelijk weten op te lossen, MrScratch en moto-moi hadden gewoon gelijk. Met 915resolution is het eindelijk opgelost.

Probleem zat hem er in dat ik 915resolution verkeerd aanriep. Is eigenlijk heel simpel te doen (vanaf SUSE10 wordt 915resolution automatisch ge"installeerd dus je hoeft het alleen in het opstartscript te zetten. "915resolution 54 1280 800" deed het al voor mij (waar 54 staat voor de mode die vervangen moet worden, in mijn geval 800x600 die gebruik ik toch niet)
