[xorg.conf] Toevoegen resolutie faalt

Ik heb een probleem om een bepaalde resolutie toe te voegen aan mijn beeldscherm configuratie zodat ik deze kan selecteren en gebruiken.

Na een schone installatie van OpenSuse 10.3 zag ik dat ik maar kon kiezen tussen een 3-tal resoluties. Mijn favoriete 1600x1200 resolutie zat daar niet bij.

Ik heb het volgende gedaan om het werkend te krijgen:

Stap 1: Nieuwe modeline creeren
# xmode -x 1600 -y 1200 -r 85

Stap 2: Toevoegen aan /etc/X11/xorg.conf onder sectie "Modes"

Stap 3: 1600x1200 mode toevoegen aan de juiste kleurendiepte onder sectie "Screen"

Step 4: init 3

Stap 5: init 5

Stap 6: SaX2

= Helaas kan ik hier de toegevoegde resolutie niet selecteren.

Kan iemand me verder helpen?

Ik weet nix van van OpenSuse maar blijkbaar is jouw methode niet helemaal de manier

Ik gebruik Ubuntu 7.04 en heb geen sectie met modelines... geen idee of je die dus wel nodig hebt. For what it's worth, mijn Screen-sectie uit mijn xorg.conf (een nieuwe resolutie toevoegen is zo eenvoudig als de resolutie aan het rijtje toevoegen):

1: wat staat er in /var/log/Xorg.0.log ? (exacte naam kan verschillen)
2: wat zegt xrandr (uitvoeren in een console, is een commandline-progje om resoluties ed aan te passen)?

Xorg pakt niet de resolutie die jij wil maar de resolutie die het meest links staat in de Screen section, subsection Display .

Dus haal die tweeduizend en er effe uit, zodat 1600x1200 vooraan staat, en gaan met die banaan

Als ik de 2048x weg haal uit de xorg.conf klopt de virtuele resolutie niet meer, dan moet ik continue over mijn scherm scrollen.

Als ik configure desktop doe krijg ik deze melding bij de display tab:

Zodra ik sax2 weer opstart kan ik alleen maar kiezen tussen de resoluties 800x | 1280x | 2048x

YaST -> Software -> Change installation Source -> Add
Protocol: http
Server Name: : www2.ati.com
Directory on Server: suse/10.3

Dan:
YaST -> Software -> Install and Delete Software
Zoek en installeer de volgende bestanden:
x11-video-fglrxG01
ati-fglrxG01-kmp-<kernel-flavor>

Ik heb de ATI repository toegevoegd en de laatse versie geinstalleerd, dus ja

Als bovenstaande is gelukt configureer je met SAX2 je monitor handmatig. Door de juiste parameters toe te voegen...
Dit is nou net het probleem (en de reden van dit topic). De juiste waardes staan juist ingevuld, mijn monitor wordt netjes herkend (zie sectie "monitor" van gequote sax configuratie)
Maar ik kan alleen maar kiezen uit een selecte range van resoluties, niet de 1600x1200 res.

Wat is er eigenlijk mis met 2048x1536 ?

iig, door de regel Virtual "1600" "1200" aan je subsectie "display" toe te voegen klopt je virtuele resolutie weer.
Je kunt ook met xrandr van resolutie wisselen: xrandr -s 1600x1200
