In dit systeem zitten 2 3.2GHz 4-core Power 9 CPU's, welke 'dubbel hyperthreaded' zijn. Je hebt dus 32 threads met 8 cores.
Met ruwe performance is dit in theorie een bloedsnel systeem. In de praktijk zie je echter dat veel software geoptimaliseerd is voor X86 CPU's. Om echt het meeste uit deze CPU's te halen zul je je software op assembly-niveau moeten optimaliseren voor PowerPC.

Geklokt op 4.9ghz met spectre mitigations uitgeschakeld. Verder gewoon standaard Ubuntu kernel (geen xanmod o.i.d.).

Ik heb hier een oud bakje staan, een HP DC7900.
De Core2Duo E8400 is vervangen door een Core2Quad Q9400S; het geheugen uitgebreid naar 4GB (heb liever 8GB maar dat is wat te prijzig). En uiteraard de onmisbare SSD toegevoegd. Helaas heb ik geen benchmarks van de originele configuratie. Daar draaide indertijd Windows 7 op.
Voor 12 jaar oude hardware niet slecht.

Dit valt me niks tegen. Wel een overclock naar 3,95 ghz. Leuk om in dit topic te zien dat nieuwe generaties AMD's zoveel sneller zijn. Ze boeken toch iedere generatie weer flink wat ipc winst!
