Need help upgrading PC from aldi Md 8800

I know it would be better to buy a new PC, but I would like to wait another 6 months for that. So all the kinks out with the new windows Vista I hear that there lots of problems to play games and run certain software. Now comes my question!

Old one is the GeForce 6700 XL

I would like to upgrade my graphic card to a GeForce 7900 GTX 512 MB Will the power supply be enough. 400 watt, if not, what about the GeForce 7600gt 256mb

and also my RAM memory got a 2x512 mb of RAM. I would like to upgrade to 3 GB oh by the way. My motherboard is a MSI MS-7204 so. Which kind of RAM. Do I need? If you can help me please be specific. I'm a complete Noob (if you think it's not good to upgrade please say-so)

P.S. I would like to buy a new game PC approximately 6 months from now. I do not know to put a goods gaming PC to getter if anybody could make a list of all the stuff that I need. I would like it to be a really good gaming PC I would definitely like a GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB in it. Money is not a problem for the moment. If you want to write it down in Dutch it's not a problem

Als jij niet de moeite neemt om in het Nederlands je post over te typen, denk ik niet dat veel mensen de moeite gaan nemen om een nuttige reply te typen. Verder denk ik niet dat het nog nut heeft om als je over 6 maanden een nieuwe PC wil kopen, ten eerste nu geld uit te geven aan een upgrade van je verouderde aldi-pc, en ten tweede lijkt het me ook dat de rest van het systeel een bottleneck en de voeding een probleem gaat vormen bij een zware videokaart.

Ik ben een stijfkop en geef in nederlands antwoord:

Als je over 6 maanden een gheel nieuw systeem wilt. Waarom dat nog deze pc upgraden?
Het beste is denk ik gewoon te wachten en dan een geheel nieuw systeem te kopen.

I don't think that it's a good plan to buy all these new products, because you are going to buy a new computer in a half year. But if money you don't care, you could buy it now.

Also you can re-use the parts in your new PC. I am sure the 7600GT will run on a power supply of 400 Watt's, a 8800GTX not. The website of Nvidia says that the 8800GTX only will run on a power supply of 450 Watt's and more.

Hij wil toch pas een PC over 6 maanden, dus waarom nu al één kopen terwijl je die pas over 6mnd nodig hebt? Daarom zei ik dus dat je beter een paar maand kunt wachten!

nevermind, ik las het verkeerd! Ik zag niet dat hij eerst enkele hardware wilde upgraden...

I assume you are capable of reading Dutch because you have found your way here but perhaps you are unable to produce a correct Dutch topicstart. I suggest you try again in Dutch or check out boards that make use of the English language.

About your topic: Even if you had used the Dutch language the topic would have been locked. You ask questions which you can perfectly answer by yourself. Upgrading your videocard to a newer model shouldn't pose much trouble. Search for reviews on the new card you're intending to buy. You would like to use the card for gaming, so try to find the card that delivers the best bang for the bucks you are willing to spend.
The process of selecting a new videocard that meets your needs is described in the following Dutch document, **LET OP** Welke videokaart/monitor moet ik kopen?
Both cards you selected are decent choices, of course the 7900 will be a lot faster than a 7600 series but I'm worried your PSU might give you problems if you go for the 7900 one. Medion PCs are not known to be made up of high quality parts

Your memory question can be answered by reading the instruction manual for your motherboard. Because you are speaking about Medion PC I do not know if such a manual was supplied so I looked it up for you, Medion MD8800 Motherboard Manual (MSI MS-7204) from the MD8800 Medion Support Page.
Your board requires DDR2 RAM and supports DDR2 533/667 modules.
