MEDC 2007 Europe - the first public presentation of HTC Kaiser ! HTC Kaiser official now !
At MEDC 2007 Europe, in the so called "Microsoft Device Bar" that consists essentially of a table with some devices powered by Windows Mobile, one can notice HTC Kaiser Pocket PC phone:
... that is a replacement of popular HTC Hermes and that additionally, on top of features of HTC Hermes, offers smaller size, tilted QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS and 3 megapixel camera!
"Kaiser" means in German "emperor" and it is only fitting that the first public presentation of HTC Kaiser takes place at MEDC conference that takes place in Berlin - in Germany!
The tilted slide-out QWERTY keyboard is amazing:
.. and HTC Kaiser maintains all good features of HTC Hermes, including genuine scroll-wheel:
... fast processor, HSDPA capability, video calling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. It is unclear yet whether the camera on the back of this phone supports auto-focus or not, and whether HSDPA supported is 7.2 MB/s or 3.6 MB/s and whether HSUPA indeed is supported, but already this phone may become a big hit!
While this phone has amazing features, one must remember that display of this phone is only QVGA (320x240 pixels) and the built-in GPS is of "assisted GPS" type, what means: not so sensitive as the SiRF STAR III chipset. In any case HTC Kaiser offers faster HSDPA speeds, what combined with Windows Mobile 6, makes it an ideal wireless modem - because thanks to the "Internet sharing" feature of Windows Mobile 6 one can use each phone powered by this OS as a wireless modem without the need to install anything additional in your PC (through Bluetooth and even through regular USB)!
Conclusion: official release and launch date of HTC Kaiser must be imminent because first public (and official) appearance of this phone has just taken place!
