Harddisk kapot?

Ik heb een Pc met 2 hardeschijven, nu kreeg ik laatst na een Lan party tijdens het opstarten een paar error's. Er waren enkele bestandssegmenten van mijn harde schijf onleesbaar. Nadat hij was opgestart kon ik ook niet meer de hardeschijf in questie (250GB Maxtor) in windows XP vinden.

Nu heb ik het volgende uit mijn BIOS gehaald (Ik weet de getallen niet meer precies).

Mijn 1ste harde schijf (80GB WDC):
Cylinders 30.802
Heads 8
Sectors 32?

Mijn 2de harde schijf (250GB Maxtor):
Cylinders x
Heads x
Sectors x

Er waren nog meer gegevens maar die waren bij allebei van toepassing, deze hierboven zijn de enigse die verschilen.

De bios kon du alle twee de schijven vinden, maar van de Maxtor kon hij enkele gegevens niet ophalen.

Weet wat het probleem is en hoe ik het kan oplossen?

Heb je SMART geactiveerd voor de schijven in de bios. Krijg je een melding van Smart status bad oid?

Het eerste wat ik zou doen is de powermax tool draaien van maxtor om te testen of je schijf echt defect is.

Oke, ik heb het geprobeert maar hij zegt "Can't load DOS. Press any key to retry.". Ik run Windows XP SP2 en heb verder nix speciaals. Iemand een oplossing?

Step-by-Step Instructions - Downloading PowerMax

NOTE: The PowerMax download is a self-extracting file.


After downloading to your Windows desktop, insert a clean formatted floppy diskette into your A:\ drive.
Double-click on the PowerMax diskette creator icon.
When the Maxtor pop-up screen displays, click on the "Create Floppy" option.

The files will extract on to the floppy diskette, creating a bootable version of the PowerMax utility. Do not download PowerMax directly to a floppy. PowerMax extracts from a Win32 environment only and will not extract from 16-bit DOS mode.

WARNING: ALL DATA WILL BE LOST WHEN PERFORMING THE LOW LEVEL FORMAT QUICK OR FULL OPTIONS.

Maxtor recommends that users backup all critical data and removing other hard drives before performing this test.

System Boot and Test Initialization


After extracting the PowerMax files to the floppy diskette, restart Windows with the PowerMax floppy in the A:\ drive.
When the system restarts it will boot to the PowerMax diagnostic program

NOTE: PowerMax does not run from within Windows 95, 98/ME, NT, 2000, or XP. Do not try to run the utility from an MS-DOS prompt window.

Krijg de indruk dat je het toch niet helemaal gelezen hebt.

Ja dat doe ik allemaal maar hij zegt toch "Can't load DOS".
