path to source

[Obi Wan Kinobi]

sinds ik van redhat 9 naar fedora core 3 ben overgestapt wil het me maar niet lukken om mijn rt2500 wifi aan de lul te krijgen.

in redhat 9 hat is een 2.4 kernel en de README die er bij de software was geleverd werkte prima.

maar nu ik op een 2.6 kernel zit kan ik de /path/to/source niet vinden.

ik moet namelijk het volgende doen :
$ make -C /path/to/source SUBDIRS=$PWD modules

(where /path/to/source is the path to the source directory for the (configured and built) target kernel)

iets meer info:

het gaat dus om fedora core 3 met een 2.6.9-1.681_FC3 kernel
op een amd xp 2400 plus draaiend op KDE volledig geupdate,
D.M.V. cmd "yum update" als root

vraag aub voor meer info als je dat nodig heb.

Wordt '/usr/src/[vul je kernel in]' niet gewoon bedoelt? Maar weet je zeker dat de betreffende module niet reeds meegecompileerd is en je dus kunt volstaan met een modprobe?

in mijn /usr/src staat alleen maar een map redhat

in die map staat BUILT, RPMS, SOURCES, SPECS en SRPMS.

en als ik dan het cmd geef : make -C /usr/src/redhat SUBDIRS=$PWD modules

dan krijg ik van me terminal als antwoord :

Wat hij graag wilt horen is

Wellicht iets heel stoms, maar moet je geen hoofdletter C gebruiken?

Stom? Het staat zelfs in de uitleg die hij krijgt

Je moet ook niet vergeten de kernelsources te installeren van de kernel van Fedora. Standaard installeren de meeste distro's deze niet.

ja sorry dank je wel voor de scherpe opmerking.

ik heb inderdaad de verkeerde cmd gepost.

ik bedoelde namelijk dit :

evengoed geen werkende wifi.

oww ps: mijn wifi chipset zit er niet ingebakken. dus een modprobe heeft geen zin

als jullie willen dan post ik de readme die er bij de linux driver zit.

zowel de make voor een 2.4 kernel alsmede voor een 2.6 kernel

even yum kernel-source of iets in die trand doen en dan nog eens proberen

Een kernel source staat niet in '/usr/src/redhat' maar eerder in '/usr/src/redhat/linux' of iets dergelijks.

nah blijkbaar ben ik de enige bij wie het fout gaat.

gister nog tegen een help file aangelopen met fedora core 2 en de zelfde wifi chipset.

maar als ik die letterlijk volg, en slechts de path names verander in de bij mij van toepassing zijnde dan wil ie nog niet installeren.

en dat terwijl ik hem op de 2.4 kernel zo draaiend had.

help nogsteeds welkom.
