Beste Tweaker,

wat voor instelling hebben jullie voor jullie toetsenbord. Ik heb mijn toetsenbord geselecteerd met US engels in SaX2. Het probleem is, ik krijg geen puntjes op letters, zoals je bijvoorbeeld hebt onder XP met nederlandse outlook van het toetsenbord.

Ik krijg nu " ipv puntjes op de i bij bijvoorbeeld beinvloeden. Wat voor instellingen hebben jullie bij het toetsenbord onder Suse?

Of hebben jullie dit probleem ook?

Anyways, wat je zoekt zijn 'dead keys', ik heb nu wat haast, maar ik kwam deze pagina erover tegen ?

'kl Vind dié optie juist gewééééldig .. lekker accentueren en ik typ nog wel eens een dingetje in't duits (äëüöï) of in't fries (âêûôî)

Linux:
Keyboard re-mapping & Compose (Dead) Key: A user wrote in to say that he configured both the console and XFree86 to work with a real Swedish PC 105 keyboard. The Linux Danish/International HOW-TO gave him all the information he needed. The master copy is located at:

The example is for a Danish setup, but the instructions are generic and so he was able to adopt the information to Swedish and figure out the balance of the work. There is currently no "US-International" keyboard layout shipping with Linux that corresponds to the layout of the same name in Win95 and NT4.0 (although it would be easy to construct for X). There was one problem the user noted, however, for Linux. The Compose key, i.e. dead key equivalent, did not work for Communicator, though it did work for other X applications he tried. We are currently investigating this problem but if you have additional information or solution, please write to us. (Thanks to: Robert Åberg: Phoenix, Arizona, who sent us this information.)

Nou ik kan een ieder melden dat het gelukt is. Ik wil de mensen bedanken voor hun reacties en daarmee bedoel ik hun bereidwilligheid om anderen behulpzaamheid te zijn. Ik heb het namelijk niet opgelost me de codes die bij de link stonden, maar in Suse 9.1 Professional kan het allemaal veel makkelijker. Wel ben ik weer wijzer geworden, dat wat ik moest hebben de zogenaamde "deadkeys" zijn.

Iedereen die het probleem heeft en een newbie is als het gaat om Suse moet dit kunnen volgen.

Ga naar startbutton --> control center --> Regional & Accessibility --> Keybord Layout --> Vink nu op de rechterpagina de optie "Enable Keybord Layouts" aan.

Vervolgens verwijder je de standaart US Englisch layout bij de kolom ?Active Layouts?

Nu ga je bij Available Layouts naar beneden scrollen tot je "US Englisch w/ deadkeys" gevonden hebt.

Deze layout voeg je toe met add onderaan in je scherm, en het is alleen nog maar een kwestie van apply and close aanklikken, en je bent helemaal het mannetje .

Opmerking: Wat ik steeds deed, is proberen de layout in SaX2 de Layout van het toetsenbord te wijzigen, dit mislukte steeds!

Ik hoop dat ik voor een Linux beginner duidelijk uiteengezet heb wat je moet doen.
