[slackware 10.0] S-ata ondersteuning? - Linux en overige clients

ik heb al op verschillende forums en site's gekeken, maar ik kan mijn SATA schijfje niet te pakken krijgen.

ik heb nu kernel 2.4.26, moet ik deze eerst updaten om SATA ondersteuning te krijgen?
Ik weet ondertussen ook dat de promise fasttrack 4000 werkt voor de promise Fasttrak376 die ik heb.

Weet iemand een oplossing?

Libata is beschikbaar voor de 2.4 generatie vanaf versie 2.4.27. De meeste sata controllers worden ondersteund vanaf deze versie m.b.v. libata (te vinden onder SCSI low level drivers).

Zelf heb ik meer succes gehad met 2.6.8x kernel.

Welke sata schijf heb je?
Ik krijg zelf geen seagate goed aan de praat maar wel een maxtor in combinatie met sata controller die ik heb.
Daar kan het dus ook aan liggen.

maar ik kan mijn SATA schijfje niet te pakken krijgen

Als je dat even wat preciezer uitlegt, dan komen we denk ik veel verder dan nu.

Dit is mijn syslog.
ik probeer dus met Slackware 10.0 (zie TS), mijn windows XP partitie te zien, die op een (2 partities, 1 fat32 en 1 ntfs) S-ATA schijf staat. Ik ben niet helemaal een linux newbie meer, maar echt goed kan ik het ook nog niet.
Pri-master: Seagate 60gb ATA schijf, verdeeld in 5 partities (1 linux (ext3) 1 linux swap, 1 linux (reiserFS) en 2 NTFS partities)
Sec-master: mijn NEC 1300 DVD brander.

En mijn Promise Fasttrack 376 controller heeft 1 s-ata schijf (een 80Gb Seagate)

nu is het probleem dat ik dus niet bij mijn 80gb kan, ook niet in de bootloader, wat de eigenlijk opzet is, zodat ik een dualboot krijg.

Nu ben ik alleen niet zo onderbouwd, dat ik dit op kan lossen. Eigenlijk weet ik niet goed waar ik moet beginnen. Ik heb al een driver gedownload van promise.com, maar bij make configmenu zie ik ook dat de pdc 20 xxx, daar waar de 376 onder valt, ondersteunt wordt, dus dacht ik dan is dus zo'n driver niet nodig. ik kan het helemaal mis hebben natuurlijk. Ik heb een scsi-kernel geinstalleerd, omdat ik bij het opstarten ook moet starten van een scsi (in de bios, de in te stellen volgorde). Ik weet niet zeker of dit goed is, maar problemen heeft het mij tot nu toe niet opgeleverd, behalve dan dat ik mijn SATA niet werkend krijg. Niet gemount zeg maar, want als dat kan, dan kan ik hem toch ook toevoegen in LiLo, toch?

Vanwege SATA: zie topic [rml][ slackware 10.0] S-ata ondersteuning?[/rml]

Heb ik dus mijn kernel moeten updaten. Dat heb ik dus gedaan, maar nu hangt hij dus tijdens het booten. Ik heb dus weinig tot geen kennis van linux kernels e.d... Ik heb alles dus via een ' boekje' gedaan. De readme die bijgeleverd werd bij de linux 2.6.7 kernel. Daar stond in wat ik moest doen, dat heb ik gedaan. Er werden verder geen problemen geconstateerd. Ook lilo is overnieuw geconfigureerd, na de 'make install' en 'make modules_install' gaf lilo aan ' * added Linux'.

ik zal nog een stukje (laatste deel) van syslog posten. Mochten er nog andere logs gepost moeten worden, dan wil ik dat best doen, maar ik weet nu absoluut niet welke.
En ik heb ook al met google gezocht. Die module is volgens mij OF van het geluid OF van APM.

Het lijkt me dat de bootloader configuratie wel snor zit: je kernel boot immers (maar crasht).

Het probleem lijkt me het speciale device /dev/sda en dat is bij jou een usb-stick of flashcard reader die door linux niet helemaal lekker ondersteund wordt ofzo. Dus boot je pc opnieuw zonder die usb apparatuur aangesloten en kijk of je daarmee verder komt.
