Giganews speelt vuil spel met onbeperkte accounts

De onbeperkte accounts van Giganews zijn niet zo onbeperkt als is aangegeven.

Bij het overschrijden van een niet aangegeven limiet (vermoedelijk ergens tussen de 100 en 200Gb) zal de verbinding zonder bericht worden geknepen tot ongeveer 1Mbit.

Als je hierover klaagt zal je account onheroepelijk worden beëindigd. Als het goed is krijg je je geld wel terug.

Op de vraag waarom mijn download snelheid zo gedaald was volgde de volgende e-mail uitwisseling.

In order to better assist you with this problem, we are going to need some additional information. We appreciate your patience and assistance in solving this problem.

- When did you first see this problem?

- Has this been occurring consistently or intermittently?

- Does this happen at a certain time of day or night?

- Have you tried another newsreader?

- Has any software/hardware been (un)installed or updated lately?

- If you are using a router, what is its make and model?

- On which server(s) did you encounter this problem?

- What is the IP address you received from your ISP? If you have a
cable modem or DSL and use a router, the router will have the IP we
need.

- There is a reverse trace route utility found on our web site that
may help us diagnose a network related problem. Please paste the
test results in your next e-mail reply. It can be found here:

Cut and paste your test results into your follow-up reply.

You may want to try adjusting the NNTP port used by your newsreader.

There should be a setting within your newsreader that will allow you to do this. The default port is 119, but we also support NNTP
traffic on both ports 80 and 23 as well.

Please get back to us with the answers to these questions as soon as it is convenient. We will need this information to troubleshoot this problem.

Thanks for getting back to us with the requested information.

We are not currently experiencing any problems that would cause this issue and your traceroute results look good.

I am unsure what to advise at this time, but you may wish to contact your ISP to determine whether or not they are conducting any maintenance that could be affecting your network perfomance.

In the meantime, we would advise you to check your router manufacturer's website to insure that you are using the latest firmware. You may also want to try running a direct connection from your cable modem to your computer (bypassing the router completely).

If none of the above appears to help, then I would suggest contacting your ISP for further assistance, as we are not seeing any issues on our end.

We have researched this issue and can not find anything wrong with your unlimited account. It does not appear that we can resolve this issue to your satisfaction. I have instructed the billing department to cancel your account and issue you a refund to your credit card.
