[Grub] Windows XP boot niet

mijn menu.lst ziet er alsvolgt uit:

Linux boot wel, maar WinXP niet. Win XP staat op de eerste partitie van de eerste schijf, oftewel /dev/hda1, Linux staat op de 2e partitie van de 1e schijf (/dev/hda2).
Volgens allerlei howto's die die ik heb bekeken, is er niks mis met mijn menu.lst, maar hij doet het niet helemaal helaas.

Dit is mijne. Die werkt. Probeer die eens.

In mijn geval staat XP op (hd0,2) en wordt de enige andere primaire FAT32-partitie (hd0,1) gehide.

In jouw geval zou het dus worden:

Ik krijg van Grub de volgende foutmelding:
filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7


Maar ik denk dat mijn windows partitie verneukt is, want ook mounten lukt niet meer, hij geeft dan de volgende foutmelding:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1,
or too many mounted file systems

Bestaat er toolje (voor linux) waarmee ik een beschadigde partitie kan herstellen voor zover dat nog mogelijk is?

Welke versie van grub heb je? Partition type 0x7 staat namelijk voor HPFS/ NTFS, dus die zou gewoon moeten werken.

Ik denk dat dat inderdaad het probleem is wat ik heb, want ik heb gisteren naar kernel 2.6 geupdate, maar het probleem is dat ik niet echt uitkom uit die instructies die ze geven:

To install the driver update from floppy disk, proceed as follows:

    * Download the file parted.img.gz and save it to a directory like /tmp.
    * Insert a floppy disk and use the following command to write the image to the medium:

gunzip -c /tmp/parted.img.gz >/dev/fd0

      Caution: The previous content of the floppy disk will be lost.
    * Insert the installation CD or DVD (important: on AMD64 systems, 
       insert the 32-bit side of the DVD). Boot the CD or DVD up to the point 
       where you can choose one of the different installation types.
    * Press F6. A message will ask you to keep the driver update handy.
    * Use the arrow key to select the menu item "Installation".
    * Enter the boot parameter "fixpart=1" and press ENTER.
    * When the message "Please choose the Driver Update medium" is displayed,
      insert the driver update disk you created and press "OK".
    * In the following menu, select "floppy" and confirm with "OK".
    * After completing the driver update, click "Back".
    * The following dialog for repairing the partition table displays your hard disk
      (usually /dev/hda) and the status of the partition table (broken). Select the 
      hard disk and click "OK" to repair the partition table.
    * After repairing the partition table, exit the menu with "Back". Press the key
      combination CTRL-ALT-DEL to reboot the computer and remove all media 
      from the drives.

Now you should be able to boot both Windows and Linux.

Deze instructies zijn voor Suse, maar ik heb debian, en ik kom er niet uit met hun instructies (het gedeelte waar je moet booten met de CD en de parameter "fixpart=1" moet meegeven), wellicht dat iemand mij verder kan helpen en mij kan vertellen hoe ik een dergelijke driverupdate in debian kan uitvoeren.
