[win2k] hoe norton systemworks 2003 uninstallen?

ik zit hier @ me broer's computer, en een of andere ***** heeft norton systemworks geinstalleerd. deze moet er dus af, maar daar heb ik wat problemen mee

ik heb dus al gekeken in add/remove programs, maar daar is de uninstall knop disabled.

dus toen gezocht in de norton directory op program files, maar daar stond geen uninstall achtige executable in.

toen gezocht op google. die zegt dat ik 'Rnav2003.exe' moet gebuiken, maar die staat niet op deze computer..

heeft iemand nog een idee waar ik windows niet voor hoef te reinstallen?

mensen, ik BEN administrator, en ik heb idd 2003, dus die link werkt niet..

op google kon ik wel dingen vinden, maar die zeiden dat ik dat filetje meost gebruiken (die zou in de norton dir staan)
helaas kon ik hem op de hele pc niet vinden

heb ik zelf ook aan gedacht, maar behavle dat ik dat ding ook ni kan vinden, zit ik ook nog met dingen als norton protected recycle bin enzo..

Das raar, op de website staat dat het speciaal voor Systemworks is.

Solution:
Use this document when you want to remove Norton SystemWorks 2003 or Norton SystemWorks Pro 2003 and its component products and Windows Add/Remove Programs fails to remove them completely.

nog een keer eroverheen instaleren, en dan weer uninstallen

edit: soms heeft het geen zin om een zinkend schip te redden en kun je beter opnieuw instaleren...

als je dingen niet meer naar eigen wil eraf kan gooien dan vind ik dat je geen controle meer hebt over je pc, dus tijd voor een reinstall.

ik heb nu handmatig alle files verwijderd
eerst al die opties uitgezet, zodat die recycle bin nu wel goed is.
daarna heb ik services verwijderd, en daarna nog een keer die 'patch' van ruzor gedraait
alles leek opgelost te zijn

ik krijg alleen een melding wanneer ik een setup uit voer (elk willekeurig programma)

de melding is als volgt:

dan een ignore, en close knopje er onder.
als je ignore doet werken somige setups wel, maar niet allemaal (firefox bijv stopt er mee)
als je close doet stoppen ze er allemaal mee (duh)

ik ben nu aan't zoeken naar 'symantec' in register, maar denk ni dat het dan opgelost is

Even zoeken op de symantec site (gaat over S32evnt1.dll en aangezien er nergens iets is te vinden over s32ecnt1.dll denk ik dat het een typo is):

Ik zou trouwens na stap 11 kijken of het nu wel goed werkt en stap 12 niet doen aangezien deze volgens mij weer Symantec software erop zet.

In some cases, clicking Ignore enables the program to run correctly, but the error message continues to appear when 16-bit programs run.

Solution:
According to Microsoft technical support, these errors are linked to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers

This key has an VDD binary value that points to:

C:\progra~1\symantec\S32Evnt1.dll

If the VDD binary value is removed, then the 16-bit subsystem returns to normal and is functional.

To solve this problem, you need to remove the VDD binary value first, and then update the Symevent files.

To remove the VDD binary value
CAUTION: We strongly recommend that you back up the system registry before making any changes. Incorrect changes to the registry could result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. 1. Click Start > Run. The Run dialog box appears.
2. Type regedit and then click OK. The Registry Editor opens.
3. Navigate to the key

Follow the steps in the document How to update the Symevent files.

anyway, het is nu gelukt, zoals bij de laatste quote. ik had reg_multi_sz moeten hebben ipv string (eerste quote) of binairy (2de quote)

in zowel IE, outlook, als alle office applicaties zijn alle 'send en submit' knoppen weg gehaalt.

kortom. achteraf gaat er toch een nieuwe windows overheen

Das mooi klote! Erg raar ook trouwens. Maar ja, je kunt wel blijven repareren maar op een gegeven moment ben je zo in het register wezen wijzigen dat je beter een nieuwe install van windows kan uitvoeren.
