Novell loopt vast op Arcserve en Sophos

De Novell server (Novell Netware 6 SP4) start normaal op vervolgens start ik handmatig Arcserve (ASTART) en dit gaat ook nog goed. Vervolgens start ik Sophos (LOAD SWEEP) en dan vliegt de utilization van de server naar 88%.

5.1. Why is SWEEP using a high percentage of processing time?
The Novell program MONITOR.NLM shows the file server utilisation as a percentage. This can be 1% or 2% when the network is idle. When SWEEP is started in immediate mode, or while a scheduled SWEEP is running, utilisation may jump to over 70%.

SWEEP uses any processing time during which the server would otherwise be idle; if other requests for resources are made, SWEEP gives up those resources to the requesting process.

A high utilisation figure when running SWEEP should not normally affect network performance.
