I have been trying to find a way to improve the performance of my videocard. I know from experience that the card performs exellent and runs very stable under the Asus V6.18 drivers. I can easily overklock the card to 210mhz core / 210 mhz memory. When tested with 3DMark2000 this gives a score of 5289 (default benchmark). The problem was however that I could find no confirmation that the card was running at 4XAGP. I've tried several diagnostics programs, but non were able to answer this.
I then installed the Asus V6.31b5 beta drivers. This gave a significant performance boost. The information utility on the display adapter->advanced->information indicates that the card is now running at 4XAGP. When running 3DMark2000 again, the score was up to 5585. However, I was not able to use the tweak utility. The Coolbits reg did not function properly as the dll NvQTwk.dll (or something like that) could not be found. When adding this file (I copied it from the Asus 6.18 driver) the error was gone, but no tweaking possibility visible.
I suspect that the card runs at 1XAGP with the 6.18 drivers and can be overclocked, and with the 6.31b5 drivers runs at AGP4X and cannot be overclocked.
I am now looking for a solution to either:
- run with the 6.18 drivers and find a way to enable 4XAGP
- run with the 6.31b5 drivers and find a way to enable the tweak utility.
Do you have a solution to do this, or is there an nVidia reference driver that will allow me to run both functionalities?
(possibly the nVidia 7.17 and DirextX8 final combination?)
