To do these, you need to creep up behind a hunter until you are close enough that James raises his hands showing he is ready to execute. You then press *and hold* square or X. Then instead of executing right away, James powers up his execution to more violent levels. Keep close to the hunter till it goes yellow after a couple of seconds... then release to do a violent execution.
On the next guy, repeat the above, but wait till it goes red before releasing. (It goes red a few seconds after it has gone yellow if you keep hold of the button.) This gives you your gruesome execution.
You can do these kills with any melee weapon giving 3 levels of horrible death!
Make sure no one sees you while you are powering up these executions, if you are spotted it is ruined and you'll have to run off and hide. So make sure you have clear access and no one will see you before you try and pull off a violent or gruesome kill. You can hold down L1 to target hunters while you are sneaking up on them, and instead of waiting for James to raise his arms, you can wait till grey arrows appear, and that also tells you that you are close enough to press and hold X or square.
